Third pov

When they reached the third day, most of the company had settled their opinion on Raven.

Said opinion being that she had been nothing but kind and helpful, her heritage didn't matter.

While they asked questions and made sure Raven didn't strain herself, Raven tried to see if Beorn knew more about any other Riders.

"I have not heard anything for some time. Your friend did not say much and from what I heard before that, I doubt it's useful information." Beorn told her.

"Still, I want to hear it. Please, you're the first one to know anything at all." Raven begged, desperate to hear anything.

The Skin-Changer gave in. "It has been a long time now, but I heard about a group that traveled past Mirkwood. A woman, two men and a child. No details, I'm afraid."

"It's alright. Thank you for telling me."

Time skip.

"The orcs are drawing closer, we need to leave." Gandalf told them when he came back from the forest.

That set them into motion.

"I'll ask Beorn for horses." Raven quietly told Thorin, not waiting for an answer before heading inside.

Beorn agreed to give them food and water to take with them. But all of it would be useless as long as they were on foot with orcs near.
She told him as much.

"Very well, little dragon. You may borrow horses."

The group departed from Beorn's home without hassle.

The horses were fast and they reached the entrance to Mirkwood fast and without issues.

The dead trees made Raven wonder if it really was the same place she'd heard her mother talk about when she was a child.

"Here lies our path through Mirkwood."

"No sign of the orcs." Dwalin observed. "Luck is on our side."

Raven started taking of the bags from her horse. "Set the ponies loose. They'll return to their home."

The dwarves did as she said.

"This forest feels, sick. As if a disease lays upon it. Is there no other way around?"

Raven listened to Gandalfs answer as she released her horse.

"Not my horse! I need it."

"You're not leaving us?" Bilbo asked, Raven wondering the same thing.

"I would not do this unless I had to."

The Dragon Rider rolled her eyes, fastening her sword at her hip.

"I'll be waiting for you at the overlook before the slopes of Erebor. Keep the map and key safe." Gandal turned to look at Thorin and Raven, the two standing beside each other. "Do not enter that mountain without me."

"This is not the Greenwood of old. The very air of the forest is heavy with illusion. It'll seek to enter your mind to lead you astray. Raven, come here." Gandal sat on his horse. When she stood beside him he spoke quietly. "You are the most susceptible to the forest, be careful."

As soon as she had nodded he called out one last thing, already on his way to sonewhere. "If you leave the path, you will not find it again. Stay on the path!"

The group now left to themselves moved forward, Thorin finding the path beneath the leaves.

Raven, however, wondered what he'd meant about her being susceptible to the forest.

Distantly, nagging in the back of her head, she knew someone had once said the exact same thing.

I am so happy to get this out.

What do you guys think so far?

Also, for people reading this as a complete work, I'd recommend taking a break, eat/drink, sleep and come back later.
