Third pov

Gandalf knew this was bad.

Of course it was a good thing that Thorin finally accepted Bilbo.

But Raven was in a bad place and if he woke her it would get worse.

They decided that the strongest dwarves would switch between each other and carry her. She wasn't much taller than Thorin, after all she was half dwarf.

Oin had done what he could for the black bruise going from her hip, long her stomach and up to her chest. But sadly it wasn't much, they all suspected internal bleeding.

The mood was quite dark as they went over what to do.

They were still being hunted and they needed to get their dragon rider to safety.

It was Gandalf that came up with a solution, even if he couldn't say for sure it would work.

"There is someone we could go to..."

Thorin gave him a suspicious look. "Friend or foe?"

Gandalf sighed. "Neither. He will help us, or he will kill us."

With Raven's laboured breathing and the orcs breathing down their necks it was decided they didn't have much choice.

And according to the wizard they weren't far away from the house.

Although it felt like an eternity when they ended up being chased by the biggest bear anyone had ever seen.

They just barely had the time to get the door closed before the bear was on the poor thing. Thankfully it held and the company breathed a sigh of relief.

Thorin had set Raven down on one of the spots of hay in the stables. She cracked her eyes open briefly and feverish silver eyes glanced at the dwarven king.

Then they closed as she fell into an easy sleep.

Oin was quick over to check on her and the shock on his face worried the others.

"What is it?"

"Is it bad?"

"Wha-"

Thorin held up a hand and interupted them. He looked at Oin, question clear in his eyes.

The healer shook his head. "It shouldn't be possible, but she's healing faster than even a dwarf would ever be able to."

Gandalf stepped closer. "Dragon riders are a resilient people. And they can heal fast, however, while they do, they are very vulnerable and if any more harm comes to them during that time, most die."

Thorin glared at him. "You knew she isn't human."

Gandalf glared back. "It doesn't make a difference if she is or not."

"You should have told us-"

"Would you have let her come with if i had?"

That shut the king up and Gandalf looked around. "We will sleep here tonight."

As everyone settled in for the rest of the night, a feverish Raven was slowly waking up.

She sat slowly and looked around in a haze. She was still very much in pain as she got up slowly and moved towards a small door in the corner where a giant sheep was watching her curiously.

She pet the adorable animal before going through the door.

It felt like her chest trying to suffocate her and she wanted- no needed air.

The bear on the other side didn't really face her. Although it seemingly did not deem her a threat as it let her take a seat on a stone in the garden.

Her whole being hurt and she wondered how long it would take before she healed.

She knew very well that her kind healed fast but what she never got to learn was just how fast.

There was so much she hadn't had the time to learn.

Not before her life burned in front of her.

Not before her mother's blood stuck to her clothes and- No, not going there. Not now.

Now she needed to breath and later she had to take the talk about her heritage.
