Third pov

Raven felt dread in her stomach as the goblin king locked his eyes on her and fuking screeched.

"Dragon! Dragon! You took a beast into my kingdom!"

The dwarves didn't understand, but as a few of them saw her eyes it sunk in. They weren't the dark eyes they knew, they were silver.

Raven was a dragon rider.

And knowing the goblins hate for dragon riders meant she was definitely in danger. Very big danger.

"Whip it! Chain it, then kill it!" The goblin king continued screeching, only calming down once she had double the amount of chains.

She'd hissed at a goblin that hit her bruised side and it had stumbled backwards.

The arrival of the Bonebreaker and the mangler seemed to draw his attention away from her as he started singing and dancing with glee.

Raven was just happy that the ugly bastard was easily distracted.

Her injuries burned like never before and she could see Oin take a worried look at her pale, sweaty face.

She was looking far from healthy and her eyes had started rapidly switching from normal pupils to cat-like slits.

She looked like a cornered animal and the dwarves didn't like it one bit.

One of the goblins unsheated Thorin's sword and shrieked as he threw it away.

Every other goblin backed away in fear.

"I know that sword! It is the Goblin-cleaver!" The goblin king yelled. "The biter! The blade that sliced a thousand necks!"

The whips flew down on the company and Raven felt it increasingly hard not to snap and bite and kick and scratch.

She felt cornered.

Trapped and panicked.

Only when Gandalf -damn wizard, should never have convinced her to come with- appeared.

Feeling the heavy chains slip of her with the help of Kili made some of the panic diminish.

She fought. Even as it felt like she couldn't breathe and everything hurt.

They needed out of there.

***********************

If you asked her later how they got out she wouldn't be able to tell you.

All she knew that when they got out she sunk to the ground against a tree and Oin was fussing over her.

He swore when he saw her side. He swore in Khuzdul but she'd heard them when her dad was alive, so she knew what they meant.

She heard Gandalf asking for Bilbo and her eyes widened as she looked around.

Bilbo wasn't there.

That meant- he's still in the tunnels..

"- I'll tell you what happened. Master Baggins saw his chance and he took it. He's thought of nothing but his soft bed and his warm hearth since he first stepped out of his door-"

Thorin was going to continue but Raven interupted him.

"Oh for fucks sake! He's done nothing but try to help you absolute dimwit. He's had every chance to turn around, every fucking chance and with how you've been treating him I'm surprised he hasn't!"

Everyone was looking at Raven. And Raven was looking at Thorin. "He's a hobbit! They're not accustomed to traveling like this but his done his best. How would it be if you had some faith in him instead of assuming he snuck away?"

There was a tense silence. Then a voice spoke up.

"Thank you, Raven. For defending me."

Bilbo came from behind the trees.

Everyone looked at him in surprise. Gandalf lit up. "Bilbo Baggins. I have never been so glad to see anyone in my life."

Kili smiled in relief. "Bilbo. We'd given you up."

Fili was also relieved. "How on earth did you get past the goblins?"

"How on earth indeed." Dwalin mumbled, careful not to let Raven hear him.

Bilbo chuckled awkwardly and thumbed at something in his pocket.

"Well, what does it matter? He's back." Gandalf tried.

"It matters to me. I want to know."

Their talking got a bit distant in Raven's ears, only when Oin felt her forehead for a fever did she remember that staying awake was a must.

To her surprise she was suddenly yanked up and pulled along as howls filled the air.

Oin made sure she was running in front of him. Even though it would've been better if she didn't run at all. But now it was necessary.

To Raven it felt horrific to feel your own strenght slip away and when they reached the cliff.

She looked around before yelling. "The trees. Get into the trees!"

They had just barely gotten up when the orcs and wargs reached them. And she saw him. The pale orc. Thorins worst enemy.

But she couldn't keep her eyes open to see what was happening.

And when the tree fell she was first to fall.

She couldn't hear the others scream her name or feel the talons gripping her.
