It really was a beautiful speech. And the way she stood up there, in front of everyone. It was one of the most vulnerable sights I've seen. She didn't seem to notice anyone else though. She just poured out all he felt, into the best words she had, and hoped it would be enough. Remarkable.

August, 3 months Earlier.

Jackie's POV

"God some people actually have to use the bathroom to pee you know!" I yell while banging on the door for the fifth time. Max Stanley has been in there mediocrely screwing this girl's brains out for the past 20 minutes. This is my last hope for a bathroom, since the only other one in the house is occupied by Lisa Marie and her vomit. As sweet as she is to offer it to me, she looks like she'll end up hurling in my lap the moment I sit down. So, this is it.

I figured Max would've been done by now. He's never lasted past six minutes before. I rest my forehead against the door, "Come on Max! You chose the worst time to finally try boner pills!"

The door finally swings open, and to my surprise it's not Max.
"Boner pills?" Dylan asks, a smirk tugging at his lips.
"Dylan? I thought Max was in there with some girl," I say, frowning. Great. Missed my chance to pee.

He chuckles. "Yeah, he was. Guess he wrapped things up right after you walked off."

I roll  my eyes. "Of course he did. What were you doing in there for so long, then?"
He opens his mouth to answer but I brush past him.
"Never mind." I mutter, slamming the door shut behind me. The worst part about these high school party's? Actually finding a bathroom you can use  for it's intended purpose. After taking the longest pee of my life, I wash my hands and fix my mascara.

I didn't even know Dylan was here tonight. Usually if there's a chance of seeing his sister drunk off her ass, he's nowhere to be found. I guess tonight was an exception- first party of his senior year (and my junior) and all.

When I finally get back downstairs, Avery- Dylan's sister, and my best friend since kindergarten- is screaming in victory. She's won yet another game of beer pong. Her arms fly in the air,  grabbing onto our friend Theo. He grabs onto her waist and spins her around. I reach them at the same time as Jayden.

"What happened?" He the pair.
"Avery won beer pong. Again." Theo says, setting her down.
Jayden dramatically claps. "Whoo!! That's my girl!"

Avery steps away from Theo and slips over to her boyfriend, who lifts her and kisses her like they're on the season finale of some teen drama. Way too much for public- if the public weren't too drunk to care.

She pulls back from Jayden and turns to me. "Jackie! Where the hell have you been?"

She grabs my hand and I let her. "Bathroom adventure. Took 27 minutes. And it featured your brother."

She grimaces. "Ew my brother? I didn't even know he was here tonight. Must be hiding in a corner somewhere."

She downs whatever is left in her cup. "I'm gonna go get something else to drink. Want anything babe?"
"Just get me a beer," Jayden says.

Avery nods and drags me toward the kitchen. She rummages through the drinks and settles on a rum and coke.
"Can you grab me a bottle opener? If I don't open his beer he'll use his teeth." She says with an eye roll.

I spot one on the table, next to where Dylan is apparently hiding. I reach for it, but he grabs it first and cracks open his own drink.

"Can I have that? Avery needs it." I say, hand still out.

He glances between us and smirks. "God forbid we keep the princess waiting."  He flicks the opener toward me while still holding his beer. Foam sprays out, soaking the front of my white shirt.
