My heart sank to my stomach. Another body? How many were in there? This was unbelievable. A crowd gathered around the lake where the second body, a man was pulled from the water. He had visible scars and marks similar to the woman I seen. He looked like he'd been in there for years, but the marks still looked fresh from what I saw. "Wows" and "oh mys" went around when the body was removed. I couldn't help but wonder how many more were in there, and how they are just now being found at once.
"excuse me officer, how come these bodies are suddenly appearing? And why do both bodies have similar wounds that look fresh?" I asked a passing by officer, he ignored my questions.
"They won't tell you anything" I heard from a familiar voice, Julia stood behind me looking elegant for a sight of dead bodies. "There's something weird about all this, and they're being too quiet and too secretive about it all" she said.
"You think there's like, a serial killer dumping bodies or something?" I asked, but even I knew that wasn't the case.
"No, not at all. Something's, it's something in the water. You seen that guys body, he had to be in there for at least a year so why do his marks look fresh? Scratches, bites, bruises how could they look so new if the bodies so old? It doesn't add up. I have a friend in investigation units who I'm gonna call later, cause if something's in that water I wanna know about it" Julia was exceptionally beautiful, I noticed this more and more as we met by this lake. She had a sophisticated way of speaking and presenting herself while her face was young and full of life.
"So let's call your friend" I said, and we did. We ended up in an old office full of old men and smelly plants. A younger guy by the name of Steven came to the lobby and escorted us to his office.
"Mr. Hendricks, the pleasure to meet you exceeds my manor. I've heard tons about you" he extended his hand and hugged mine firmly.
"So what's the deal Steve" Julia asked assertively.
"I don't know much, I just got paperwork on the situation. From what I know the woman's body floated to the surface, her names Erica White, thirty five with two kids. She went missing three months ago and the police checked every body of water thoroughly and she wasn't found until then. Then as you know a mans body was found, Vince Neil. He died of a heart attack three years ago in Chently hospital, how he ended up in the lake? I don't know. The bruises and marks on both bodies were said to be fresh, like days ago kind of fresh" he stopped to sip his coffee.
"So a woman goes missing and the cops never seen her body in the lake? And a man dies in a hospital and his body ends up in a lake, both of them have fresh bruises but no one knows why?" I asked, more freaked out than ever.
"It's not that simple, the lakes deeper than most around here, not to mention its filthy. Divers went in but couldn't see well enough to safely execute themselves around, so they had to stop. They can't drain the lake, so there's no way to really tell what's going on down there. Will more bodies surface? I don't know, maybe. I can't give any more information, because I don't know anything else. If I hear anything about anything, I'll let you know Julia, and Ben if I hear anything about your wife I'll call you directly. I'll look over her case again and see if I read over anything fishy, pardon the irony. I've got work to get back to sadly, I'll be seeing the both of you" he let us out of the office and we went back to Julia's house. This was the first house of a woman that I've been in, in I don't know how long. It was a nice, well put together house. It fit her perfectly. She offered me a drink but I turned it down, I was nervous to be here with her. I felt guilty, like Nicole would hate me even though she was dead.
"I say later tonight, we check out the lake" Julia proposed, and so we will.
And so we did, and as we arrive at the lake that's now vacant after two days of occupation, Julia and I are the witness of a body rising to the surface, covered in blood.
