"Hey Harriet!" I called out as I walked over to where my leader was sitting finishing off her dinner.

"What's up Y/n?" She answered back as I sat down across from her.

"I was wondering if I could go into the maze tomorrow, I need a flower that grows in there it acts as a numbing agent, I was just stocking all my med-kit and treatment supply when I saw I didn't have any left" I said.

Harriet looked at me for a long time.
"Y/n your head of the healers, can't you send someone else to get it?" She said. I could tell she was worried and didn't want to let me go.

"I don't think they would do a good job plus I know the maze, I still remember the day you made me run it, 'Every Head should know there way around that includes in the maze' that's what you said" I was grinning slightly. I remember that day clearly. Being a runner was not easy and it's not like I wasn't good at it but I didn't enjoy it enough to want to do it for the rest of my life.

"Ok you can go tomorrow but you have to take a runner with you" Harriet said and it was clear that without a runner I wasn't going into the maze.

There was no point trying to push it any further. I know Harriet just wants me to be safe so I went off to find a runner willing to escort me tomorrow.

I walked around trying to find Jasmine. Jasmine and I where pretty close. We had fun laughing together, we had spent time crying together. We did everything together.

Lucky for me Jasmine was also a runner. Although that meant I didn't get to see her so much in the day it did mean she could help me out tomorrow.

I spotted her walking into a small tent she had set up just on the edge of the forest. Even though it wasn't much of a forest what else where we meant to call it 'Bent Branches?'.

"Jaz can I come in?" I asked just outside her tent.

I didn't hear an answer so I called out again "Jaz?". I went to go peel back the curtain that acted as a door for the tent when she jumped out screaming and tackled me to the ground.

For a moment I thought that something was seriously wrong but then she rolled off me over to her side and burst out laughing.

"Oh my god, JASMINE don't scare me like that!" I shouted at her only to have our eyes meet and this time we both started laughing uncontrollably.

When the laughter had died down I sat up and turned to her. "Would you mind taking me into the maze tomorrow. I need a flower that grows in there".

I saw a questioning look on her face mixed with doubt. "I already asked Harriet, she said that I can go as long as a runner comes with me" I said.

This seemed to clear things up and Jasmine nodded in agreement.

"Sure meet me at the doors early ok, don't. Be . Late" Jasmine said emphasising on the last three words.

"I won't be" I said turning my back and walking towards the camphut.

This is where most of us slept either in hammocks on the bottoms level or in rooms on the third level. The rooms where restricted to only the leader or heads of a job. On the second floor where rooms like storage and the Healers Hut.

On my way to my room I passed Sonya. Sonya was a lovely girl with blonde hair and a funny almost posh accent. She was also second in command and highly respected. I don't think anyone didn't like her, that's because there was no reason to dislike her.

"Hello Y/n" she said waving.

"Hello Sonya" I said waving back "Did you have a good day?" I asked.

"Exhausting" she said letting out an exaggerated sigh.

"Me too" I said "Have a peaceful sleep" I said as I put my hand on my door handle.

"You as well" Sonya said yawning "Goodnight".

"Goodnight" I returned and entered my room.

As soon as my head hit the pillow I was fast asleep. I wanted to get rest and be ready for tomorrow.
