The day started off great I was reading my book in my sitting room when Matthew announced a very crying Lavinia into the room.

"My heavens are you all right?" I asked her as I looked for a handkerchief to give her.

"No I am not. Mr. Jefferson has made it perfectly clear to me that we will not be getting married nor will we ever get married." She cried rubbing her eyes on the cloth. Then continued "why would he do this? Keep me hoping. Telling me that he loves me and then drops me like I am nothing. That is how I feel like he rips my heart out. Why do I let him do this to me?"

I hugged her while she cried some more.

Once again Matthew appears to announce that Kate has arrived.

"Oh Lavinia are you all right?" She is to busy crying to answer so I do.

"Jefferson made it clear that will not be a wedding in there future."

"Oh Lavinia." She came to her other side to hug her.

"May I be of assistance?" Matthew asked

"Yes, some more handkerchiefs and tea please."

"Right away." He said as he walked away from the crying girl.

"Lavinia it is for the best this is a cruel man that only plays with your heart." Kate said

"Yes dear you deserve much better." I added

"Marrying Jefferson you would have married beneath you." Kate spoke

After that we held her for some time changing out her handkerchief and giving her sips of tea. It would take some time for her to get over Jefferson. I knew from experience.

"One day you will think back to this time in your life and feel a bit happy because when you do, you will be happy you didn't marry this man for there is one better waiting for you in the future who will love you and cherish you." I said stealing a line from the book I was just readying.

"Alice is right. Jefferson is a spoiled Insignificant man who does not matter after this day." We will get ready for a wedding and at this wedding you are to dance with whom ever you please and enjoy the night with your friends and family."

After some time talking and encouraging her to stop crying we were to split up for a time to get ready for the wedding and meet at the entrance of the church.

I went up stairs and put a simple day dress to go to the wedding. Mother and father were waiting for me down stairs. We left for the early wedding service that was for close family and friends. After the short service we headed back home to get ready for the reception.

Margret had everything ready for me. We took some time deciding what to do with my hair but ended up leaving it up the way I usually wear it.

I made it back down stairs to find my brothers changed and ready to go.

"Mother and father have taken there own couch to the ball and we were invited to ride with the Duke and Mr. Evengston." John informed me.

"Oh I see and no one thought of informing me before this very moment?" I said I was not prepared to see Ezra yet.

"Is there a problem sister?" George asked

"Yes there might be, what if the Taylor's see and make a fuss or if word gets back to them and they decide to do as planned and tell the world that I am not whole?"

"I guess none of us thought of that" Joseph said. After he finished his sentence the Dukes couch arrived.

"It is to late now" I said walking out the door.
