When I finished I walked down to the foyer to wait for the rest of the family. George was there waiting as well."Good evening George."
"Good evening Alice you look lovely tonight."
"Thank you. You wouldn't happen to to know who owns the gentleman's club do you?" The question came out before I could process my thoughts.
"Well it has many owners the main one being Mr. Jones I believe or he might be the face or front man. But most of them are unknown. Why?"
"Oh nothing just wondering. Might I be so lucky to return again."
"If John allows it I don't see why not." George finally answered after a few long moments. So he was finally fine with it. Luck me. But could this Mr. Jones be my mysterious man. I wondered if I could appear there again and talk to him. But would he call the street runners or would he simply walk me home? So many different ideas Plagued my mind as if to figure out the perfect one to see Mr.Jones once more. no I would not let my mind wonder I decided the decision was made.
John and Joseph then walked down the stairs.
"Let's go." John mentioned to the men only.
"Wait your not going in the carriage as well?" I asked
"No we are riding." Joseph answered.
"So you are leaving me alone in a carriage with mother and father? All alone?"
"Cheer up sister, it shall not be that bad." George said.
"George have you ever been alone with our parents? As a matter of fact have any of you been alone with our parents?"
"No i can not recall." John said. The other two just nodded there head.
"Then let it be known that it is not in the slightest enjoyable. So I beg you do not leave me alone." I said.
"Gentlemen your horses are ready" Matthew walked in and announced.
"We are sorry dear sister. But i wont be a long ride to the ball." Joseph said.
"The carriage is ready Miss Alice if you wish to sit there and wait." Matthew said
"Yes of course." I followed Matthew to the carriage that was comfortable enough for many. But at last only for three this night. Moments later my father and mother appeared taking there seats. At last i thought this ride would be held in silence till my mother spoke to me.
"Alice your job is to get the attention of the Duke and only the Duke. You must be kind and gentle and you mustn't dance with anyone else till he talks to you." She said to me
"Mother I have no control on how writers there name on my dancing card."
"Then make up an excuse. Surely you can do that, say your foot hurts or say your sickly until he comes to you and be miraculously healed upon his presents."
"Mary leave the girl alone she may dance with whom ever." My father said.
"Henry she needs to marry proper. You refuse to make a match for her, so she must do it herself."
"I promised that my children shall marry whom ever they wish. A gift that was not bestowed upon us. I hope that they marry for love and not for the convenience there parents."
"If it were not for me and my dowery. The Lord ship of yours would cease to exist."
"Not by my doing and it was wrong of my father to put all the responsibilities on my shoulders. But since i am an honorable man i made you my wife and treated you fairly. So i ask you to do the same for our Children. So cease your speaking women and let her decided what is best for her."
