Chapter 22 - The Finals

Child 1: "The finals of the Hashira Tournament is about to commence."

Child 2: "The opponents are Tomioka Arifu against Tomioka Giyuu."

Oyakata-sama: "Do your best, my children."

Arifu and Giyuu both get their respective training katanas as all the Hashiras were containing their nervousness on who was going to win, the older brother or the younger brother?

Both of them are now standing over 20m from each other and are readying their stances, waiting for Oyakata-sama.

Oyakata-sama: "if you are ready... Begin."

Both Hashiras rushed head on immediately and begin to perform the first forms of their breathing styles.

"Void Breathing, First Form: Discordant Slash."

"Water Breathing, First Form: Water Surface Slash."

Arifu and Giyuu both perform horizontal sword slashes that collide with each other, making them stuck in a sword-lock.

Arifu: "You're really strong, Otōto."

(A/N: "Otōto means little brother btw)

Giyuu remains silent as he's trying really hard to not get pushed back since Arifu was really strong.

Arifu: "But not strong enough."

Without his real blade, Arifu can't perform Void Breathing forms that need void energy since the only blade that has it is his real one.

"Void Breathing, Fourth Form: Cycle of Heaven."

Arifu slashes in a wheel around him, knocking Giyuu back as he attacks again.

While Giyuu hasn't fully recovered yet, Arifu dashes at him at insane speeds as he performs yet another form.

"Void Breathing, Sixth Form: Harrowing Sorrow."

Arifu performs a series of quick thrusts, followed by an upwards slash which Giyuu barely deflects.

"Water Breathing, Second Form: Water Wheel."

Giyuu leaps and vertically spins forward in the air while releasing a flowing attack in a circular motion.

Arifu: "Strong, but slow."

"Void Breathing, Fourteenth Form: Void Steps."

Arifu uses the fourteenth form of Void Breathing and dashes out of Giyuu's attack range.

Arifu: 'I want him to become stronger, so I'll do this...'

"Void Breathing, Ninth Form: Anarchy."

Arifu dashes towards Giyuu and starts to release 9 slow but really strong slashes.

Arifu: "Train yourself."

*Clang*

Arifu: "Push yourself to the limit."

*Cling*

Arifu: "Never give up."

*Clang*

Arifu: "Do your best."

On the fourth slash, Giyuu gets sent back as he wobbles a bit.

"Void Breathing, Eighth Form: Arcadian Spike."

Arifu releases a series of eight slashes at Giyuu.

"Water Breathing, Eleventh Form: Dead Calm."

Giyuu manages to deflect them all but the impact sends both of them back a few meters.

Arifu: "Otōto, I'm ending this." he smiles as he grips his blade.

Giyuu: "Right." he says as he does the same.

"Void Breathing, Tenth Form..."

"Water Breathing, Tenth Form..."

"The Dragon of Desolation/Constant Flux." they say simultaneously.

(Fun Fact: The tenth form of Water Breathing was called 'The Dragon of Change' instead of Constant Flux in the manga.)

Both Hashiras dash at each other with insane speed as they both visualize a purple void dragon and a blue water dragon clash against each other.

Both unleash strong attacks at each other, neither of them backing down.

Until...

*Crack*

One of the blades starts to crack.

The sound of wooden blades clashing could be heard throughout the whole estate.

*Snap*

And a winner is revealed...
