CARLOS POV

Jess fell asleep so I carried her to her bed. She looked so cute sleeping. I had to go but I didn't wanna leave her side. I don't want her to wake up and I'm not home but I had to handle some business.

I left out the room trying to be as quiet as possible. I closed her door and headed downstairs.

"You ready boss?" Milo and Damien were waiting for me at the front door. I grabbed my keys and we left.

We drove to the warehouse I owned to go over some info.

"Why the hell was he at the mall who was keeping tabs on him?" I said as I walked into the warehouse.

"Me boss but he somehow found a way to stay hidden."

"Jackson how the hell did you lose him if he has no idea he was being tracked."

"I don't know sir it's very odd." "Just fix it." "Yes sir."

I walked to my office with Milo and Damien. They were my right-hand men. I trusted them with my life.

"So did you tell Jess you were leaving?"

"No, she was asleep when we left."

"So where do you tell her you going when you leave?"

"I just tell her I'm handling something I can't tell her what we do it's better if she's clueless." if I'm being for real I don't want her to know what I do because I don't want her to be scared of me. Plus if she doesn't know then nobody can harm her.

"But we have an opening and you said when she snapped out on Alex her fighting skills were good Boss we could use that."

"No Milo I don't want her in this field of work it changes people and I don't want anything happening to her."

"She's strong she can handle it."

"I said no just leave it alone." Milo was kind of right. Jess was one of the strongest females I knew but bringing her here would put her in danger i can't risk that.

Jackson walked into my office. "Boss we found him." I got up and followed Jackson to the security station where all the computers were. He showed me his computer where Alex's location showed. "Okay, where is he?"

"Boss he's at your house." I looked at Milo and Damien. "Wait Carlos don't do anything crazy." Everything in me was telling me to get in my car and go kill this bastard but I knew it would just make a scene in front of Jess. "He's just looking for Jess that's all and she's asleep so it's okay."

My phone started to ring. It was Alex. Of course, he didn't know I was the leader of a Cartel that was keeping tabs on him. He only knew I was the guy his girl was staying with. I haven't heard from him since what went down at his house.

"Everybody shut up!" I answered the phone.

"Wassup Alex."
"Are you home? I need to talk to Jess."
"No, I'm not home."
"Well is Jess there?"
"I don't know maybe."
"Can you tell her I need to talk to her?"
''What do you want from her?"
"What?"
"Bro what do you want from her you fucked her over and you still won't leave her alone. Let her be happy without you."
"No dude she's mine and I'm not letting somebody like you and your little boyfriends keep her from me."
''You already have May leave Jess the fuck alone." I hung up the phone too pissed to continue the conversation.

"Keep an eye on him."

"Yes sir."

I handled all my business and headed out. I needed to get to Jess i was worried that something might happen.

While I was driving I was thinking. I knew taking my father's place would be stressful and hard. I had to do what I had to do. I spend all my time killing people who cross the line and smuggling guns and drugs. I don't do feelings but when it comes to Jess I can't help it that girl is all that's been on my mind lately. She doesn't know who I am or what I do it has to stay that way to keep her safe.

I pulled up at my house. I didn't see Alex's car so I guess he left. I rushed into the house and went to Jess's room. She jumped up out of her sleep.

"Carlos what the hell."

"Sorry, Jess go back to sleep."

"What happened?" She sat up on her bed and rubbed her eyes. God this girl is so damn beautiful.

"Nothing Sunshine it's fine."

"Okay."

"Get some rest." I kissed her on her head as she laid back down. She smiled and went back to sleep. I walked out of her room and went into mine. I showered and got in bed. I spent all night thinking about Jess. After a while, I went to sleep.

JESS POV

I woke up wanting be do something other than lay around. I got out the bed and went into the bathroom to shower. I wanted to hit the gym today to keep my mind off things. After a while of showering, I got out and changed into some workout clothes.

I put my short hair into a ponytail. I grabbed my phone and walked downstairs and grabbed some water. Carlos was still in his room so I didn't bother him.

I was grabbing water from the fridge and I heard someone coming downstairs.

"Hey sweet stuff." I looked up and saw Carlos standing beside me shirtless. That man has to know what he does to me. He does it on purpose I know he does.

"Hey Carlos."

"So where are you going?"

"To the gym."

"Why if you are already the sexiest person alive." I smiled at what he said. I hated that he was so fucking sexy and nice to me.

"Whatever."

He had that little smile on his face that smile that I loved so much.

"Okay let me take you then."

"Fine."

Carlos went upstairs and put on a shirt and his shoes. We left and went to the gym. Carlos decided he wanted to stay with me at the gym and work out with me.

We pulled up at the gym and walked inside.

It was fun working out with him. We laughed and got stuff done.

With Carlos everything is better these feelings I had for him were real and I don't know if it's only because he's been looking out for me or if it's real. I didn't care I just really loved this feeling.

I only knew what it felt like to love Alex but this was different it was better.
