A/n: Hello everybody! Today is October 16, 2021! After two painstaking months, I am off hiatus and back with tantalizingly slow updates! Currently watching The Night Manager for the first time and...well. Currently on the phone with Anna letting them fall asleep...so cute.
After Mobius had left them again, completely sapped, Y/n found herself simply crawling onto Loki's lap, straddling him and resting on his chest. His arms come around her, securing her against him in the only safe gesture he could offer her in this wretched place.
Having lost track of time, the door to the Time Auditorium opens, revealing a hassled Mobius. "What are you doing?" He asks.
Loki looks up over Y/n's head. "Passing the time," he replies cooly. Y/n sits up, taking a deep breath, eerily calm. He cradles her jaw, looking at her to check if she's okay.
"Do you care about them?" Mobius asks, almost choked for words.
"Sylvie? I'm not sure if it's the right word," Loki ponders. "We've covered this back in there."
"Shut up!" Mobius exclaims in an outburst. "Do you really think you two deserve to be alone? That the only one good enough for you is each other?"
Silence.
"Loki!"
"You told me to shut up," he says.
"Do you believe you deserve to be alone?" Mobius repeats.
"I don't know," Loki says honestly.
Mobius sighs, frustrated. "You better figure it out quick, because the nexus event the three of you caused, whatever that connection is, can bring this whole place down. So we better understand..."
" 'We?'" Y/n scoffs.
"Do you swear they didn't implant those memories in Hunter C-20?" Mobius asks meaningfully, raw emotion shining through his eyes.
Y/n stands up, freeing Loki. "Mobius, no. I believe them."
Mobius laughs dryly, setting his hands on his hips as he licks his lips. "So, I just have to trust the word of this bizarre family?"
Loki steps forward. "How about the word of your friends?"
Mobius takes in a deep breath, looking at his shoes, before he nods, motioning for them to follow our of the Auditorium. "You were right, about the TVA. You were right from the beginning. And if you wanna save them, you need to trust me. Can you two do that?"
"Yes," Loki and Y/n say firmly.
"Okay," Mobius nods, stepping into the elevator in between the couple. "You guys could be whoever, whatever you wanna be, even someone good." He pauses. "I mean, just in case anyone ever told you different."
Loki and Y/n glance up, smiling at Mobius, whose eyebrows crease with a friendly warmth back at them. The elevator doors open, revealing a pissed Ravona Renslayer flanked by two Minutemen. "I think you have something of mine."
Mobius purses his lips, drawing a TemPad from his belt. "Yeah, I got all the way down there before I even realized I picked up yours," he chuckles.
"What's going on?" Loki asks, eyes flickering between the pair.
"What's the problem, Ravonna?" Mobius asks knowingly. He pauses, thinking as he jostles his hair back. "You know where I'd go if I could go anywhere? Wherever it is I'm really from."
A shocked gasp slips from Ravonna's parted lips. "Yeah, wherever I had a life before the TVA came along. Maybe I had a jet ski! That's what I'd like to do. Just riding around on my jet ski."
