Chapter 6
The moon was a crescent like shape. The sky was pitch dark, and was littered with shiny, sparkling white jewels that were stars. The wind howled, and a cold breeze rushed past Ludo. Leaves were sprayed back by the wind. An animal scurried along. Nature was silent. Ludo was walking to the lich's lair, unsure of what to expect. Crunch, Ludo had stepped on a fallen branch. His pyromantic sword glowed through the dark. Dark green leaves blocked his way. He easily cut them off using his sword. The part where the slash happened was still burning when it fell to the ground.
Wolves howled in the distance. A great hill where a wolf occupied, stood like scenery to the open meadow plain.
Lots of the trees in the forest were either dead or dying. They were bare, and lots of the tree's leaves fell, and it hadn't been fall yet. Weird Ludo thought, as avoiding a branch.
His sword acted like a lantern, the only light source for miles. It was nearly pitched black. Ludo hadn't seen the sun since he had killed the Warden. It was chilly. Ludo, in his cold silver armor, shivered.
Finally, at last, a great dark cave was in front of Ludo. This has to be the lich's lair He thought, while stepping in the cave.
Ludo's sword shone brightly, as he uncovered the cave. It was pretty bare, except for what seems to be a giant stone puzzle that was engraved at the end of the room.
Carefully, Ludo went to the puzzle and saw that it was runes carved deep into the wall. He didn't know how to read runes, but it said
ᚺᛟᛗᛖᚱ ᚾᛖ-----ᚨᚱ ᛞ ᛏᛟ ᛞᚱᛁ---ᚡᛖ ᚹᛖ ᚨᛚᛟᚾ----ᛚᛖᛞᚷᛖ.
That wizard must know how runic. Ludo thought I'll get him here to find out what this means later.
The runes were dark, and not enough light was there to see the runes, so Ludo took the tip of his pyromantic blade, and gently and carefully traced it along the carving of the runes. A trail of small fire was left behind when he was done tracing. The fire outlined the runes, and now it was more clear.
ᚺᛟᛚᛞ ᛏᚺᛖ ᚺᚨᛗᛗᛖᚱ ᚾᛖᚨᚱ ᛏᚺᛖ ᛖᚾᛞ ᛏᛟ ᛞᚱᛁᚡᛖ ᛏᚺᛖ ᚾᚨᛁᛚ. ᚺᛖ ᚲᚱᚨᚹᛚᛖᛞ ᚹᛁᛏᚺ ᚲᚨᚱᛖ ᚨᛚᛟᚾᚷ ᛏᚺᛖ ᛚᛖᛞᚷᛖ.
Ludo looked proudly at his work. Now the wizard would definitely be able to tell.
Suddenly, a rumbling and crumbling sound was heard, as a great secret stone door opened in the west side of the cave. It was 7 feet tall and 5 feet wide, and white light shone out of it. It was a puzzle all along? Ludo thought in amaze. He had never expected tracing the runes with fire would actually solve a hidden puzzle.
He walked toward the light, although very carefully, trying to test if it was a trap. He took a quick glimpse at the light, then walked in. BOOM A light explosion occurred, and Ludo was sent sprawling backwards, and hit his head on the floor.
Ouch He thought. He quickly recovered and got up, to find that the stone door was gone.
Is this a trap? Ludo thought, before hearing a deep, raspy voice call out to him out of nowhere.
"Come my child, join me, and we can revive the age of the Arch dragons, primordials, and the entities. You must"
Ludo looked all around but saw no one. Confused, he shouted "Come out, wherever you are, you pussy!"
Ludo thought the phrase might have offended him, as there was an undisturbed silence for quite a while.
...
"How dare you... you leave me no choice now..."
A black misty ball of black fire lighted up the dark cave, and raced towards Ludo at lightning speed. Ludo almost got hit with the attack, but miraculously, tripped and avoided the attack at the same time.
Ludo decided to respond by attacking too. He shot a ball of fire from his damascus blade, but it hit the wall and did nothing. What? Ludo thought of dodging more and more black flaming attacks.
How was Ludo going to beat the Lich when he didn't even know where he was?
Ludo then noticed a great black ashy splotch on where his flaming attack had hit the wall. A liquid seeped out and dropped a single drop every 5 seconds or so.
Ludo then attacked more. He cut through the wall mercilessly. The voice screamed in agony. "STOP IT, STOP IT NOW"
Ludo grinned. He knew that this was how he would defeat him.
Fire lit up with each stroke, flames cutting through the solid rock like a sharp knife cutting paper. Soon, the walls were disintegrating enough to collapse. The stone seemed to have an acidic reaction to the fire. After each slice, the wound on the wall would begin melting, like it was as hot as the world's core.
Eventually, The screaming stopped altogether. One more slash, and he'll be defeated, Ludo thought, as holding the blade.
Fortunately, the stone melted faster than Ludo's swing, and the stone walls of the cave finally came down. The stone toppled like dominos lined together neatly on a wooden table. A dramatic Thump was heard as the last stone piece fell from its position.
Suddenly, the cave was gone altogether. The stone walls, the puzzle, everything. It was like the wall wasn't there to begin with.
Ludo turned around, and saw a greyish humanoid, dressed in special clothes fit for a lich, with deep sunken eyes, chin and cheekbone, extremely skinny, mouth open, almost zombie like hollow laying on the green grass with bloody cuts all around its body, holes in its ripped clothes, bloody eye, and many extreme injuries he had sustained from the fight.
It seemed that he had transformed himself into the cave
Ludo thought, as approaching the half dead lich, weak and exhausted of power.
"You're too late" The lich said in a grin. Cackling with laughter, he then said "It's too late, the necromancer will rule, even if I die, he will bring me back!"
Ludo looked at the thing, confused on why it was celebrating despite losing in such a battle.
Ludo was about to end the Lich's suffering, until he disintegrated into thin air,
No sight of the Lich at all anymore.
It seemed that he was defeated, but Ludo doubted that. It would probably be back soon. Even tougher than before.
