Chapter 8

Ludo stood there, raising the boy by his hair, standing still, while the boy kept screaming for what seemed like an hour before he opened his eyes and realized.

"Oh, I'm sorry, I thought you were someone else". The boy explained to Ludo, still shaking. "What are you doing here all alone? And why are you bloody?" Ludo inquired, while setting the boy down. "Well, it's a long story. My name is Sullivan, people call me Sully." Sully still shook, probably because of the elf instinct he had in him.

"My name is Ludovicus Sagitarius. Where are your guardians?" Ludo asked, concerned. "My guild, the thieves guild, has been wiped out... Axis is destroyed,I won't EVER be able to see them ever again!" At this point, Sullivan turned away from Ludo, and started crying. Warm cloudy tears rushed from his face like a waterfall, and the warm tears melted the snow underneath Sully's feet.

"Hey now, stop cryi-" Ludo turned Sully around to see blood dripping down the boy's face. He then found multiple wounds on the boy, a slash on his side that stained the once beautiful evergreen cloak. They were cut deep into the skin. Ludo didn't have much time.

"Say, which sect of the thieves guild are you a part of?" Ludo asked, desperate. "The healers sect. But I can only heal others." The boy said. Ludo looked up at the sky while sighing. This was gonna be a hard trip. Ludo was unfamiliar with the path, however, Sullivan was not. The boy must know he came here instead of anywhere else ludo thought, trying to think of a solution.

Ludo found a white handkerchief in Sullivans pocket, decorated with a gold pattern of calligraphy on it. It was stained, but it would have to do. Ludo ripped it in half, and this is when the boy started protesting.

"Stop! That's my mom's handkerchief! It's too important!" But it was too late. Ludo took the half of the ripped handkerchief and tied it around the boy's wound. It would have to do until he found actual help, from a druid or someplace.

"You...You're a human aren't you? You never show your face, I'm positive!" The boy exclaimed, backing away from Ludo. Ludo sighed. "Listen elf kid, i'm your only hope at the moment. If something happens to me, things are gonna become a lot harder."

Sullivan tried making an excuse, but couldn't find any, and decided to just go with it. At least it wasn't the bounty hunter.

The province of Lastborough had been a strange one. The peninsula that Ludo and Sully were on right now was Estonia, well, before the Incident. It took up around ¼ of the entire land mass and was almost dominated completely by the Volnaires. Their capital, Gilgatrox, also where Draven was at right now. Lastborough was the capital of the peninsula, and Astoria was the capital of Lastbourough. Ahh yes The ancient city of Astoria. Where Astorian Arch knights slayed ancient dragons, and where the tournaments are held, entertainment at nearly every corner, shops thriving, The entire city entrenched by a impenetrable wall of 3 layers, The grandiose castle of Astora, in the middle of the city, surrounded by a moat, and protected by arch knights, only a drawbridge to get in and out of the castle. The castle, with its king, Aldhart the 3rd, guarded and protected by prætiorian guards, the most elite of the arch knights. Once you entered the city, you could not leave, unless you had a passport or a signed letter by an official allowing exit. Not like staying there forever was anything bad. The city was big enough for an elder warlock to spend all his 300 years exploring. It had a border for ginormous towers, which loomed above all the other buildings, Nature, and wildlife, where many people lived, outside of the countryside. There was the crowded area of the main town, the fabled forests of haze, where street vendors, and most importantly, the amphitheatre, where many tournaments were held, the fabled forests of haze, full of magical færies and purple/pink willow trees made the entire forest bloom at summer and spring. Almost anything you could imagine was in Astoria. It was sort of like an extremely fancy dungeon of some sort.
