Chapter 24

"What do we do now!" Yelled Ludo in desperation.

"Quick! Get by me!" Faron shouted.

Faron proceeded to unsheath his claymore and slammed it down in the ground, a massive shockwave spawned mana that seemed to come out of the roots of the ground, the mana leaped out of the ground as if it was living. Then it spun out of control and suddenly interweaved with other mana strings, and in seconds, the whole bunch of mana began crystalizing, the once sticky covering became a hard protective shell.

The dragon fire spewed out of the tarragons mouth in massive amounts, and it hit directly on the mana-dome, however it seemed to have no effects.

"Are we stuck here forever?" Ludo asked.

"No, look closer, the shell is slowly melting."

Ludo observed and saw that the fire was more than enough to completely melt the dome, the fire slowly ate away at the crystalized mana, black scorch marks appeared all over the dome.

"We don't have much time before the thing breaks." Ludo said.

"Well, you got any ideas?" Faron responded.

Ludo knew that he was running low on mana, especially with the repair of his shield. He knew that his pyromantic blade would not be able to even turn pyromantic anymore due to the lack of mana he had storaged.

Then, Ludo suddenly half sworded, bludgeoning the mana wall which broke like glass due to the power of the attacks,

"What are you doing!?" Faron yelled.

Ludo paid him no attention and used the remaining mana that he had storage to pull the tarragons flames towards his blade, it reacted with the presence of his self and proceeded to merge with one in the blade, the black flames engulfing the knight whole, but then the flames, which were a huge ball of black flames at this point, back to the tarragons face, making the tarragons head go under a ball of black flames

The creature let out a screech as it flew in the sky, stunned by its own attack. Zolag yelled out in desperation as Rambor flew carelessly through the clouds, desperately trying to kill the fire that was harming him.

Faron grunted as the remainder of the mana shield broke. Now that Ludo had tried that, there were barely any options left.

Faron and Ludo both ran for it, dodging the broken logs and twigs that were caused by the fires of the tarragon. Charred black by the flames, and still hot to the touch. Some even had active fire still burning even after the cold wind blew past several times.

Megaera panicked and looked at the two escape past the broken mess of wood which were once trees, and then looked at Zolag and the tarragon frantically swooping in and out of clouds, trying to get the black flames off of the creatures own hide.

"Pff." Megaera snickered. "That idiot is fine."

Megaera hoisted up the reins that were tied to the tarragon and got ready to fly, however from the corner of her eye, she spotted Rambor frantically attempting to cling on to the edge of the skylands, its claws slipping past and catching on to another crag in the formation, just for it to slip past and repeat. A look at the tarragons wings and the membranes were burned thoroughly, holes in the wings, making it obvious that the creature couldn't fly.

"HELP!" Zolag shouted and his yell echoed through the land, even notifying Ludo, who was already far past the tarragons at this point.

Megaera hesitated... Was it better to get the mission complete as fast as possible? Or was it smarter to not risk the life of her colleague?

She made her decision quickly and Seola swooped to where Zolag and the tarragon were. Ludo could hear shouts and screams of the struggle of Seola trying to lift Rambor from death, but he didn't take even a second to look back, as if it was a death wish guarantee.

Ludo and Faron took a moment to catch their breath after they saw that they were nowhere close to the tarragons. They both sat down near an ancient arch tree, which was hundreds of feet tall and smelled of a strong pungent smell, one that was a mix of forest pines and broken clay beehives.

"How much longer until the tarragons find us?" Ludo inquired.

"I doubt they can find us now..." Faron responded. "If they wanted to find us now then they would have to breathe fire on the whole forest."

Ludo looked around and saw an endless maze of trees surrounding them on all sides. The tarragons weren't the problem anymore, the way out of the cursed island would be the problem.

"Is there an exit out of this place? How else have you gotten here?"
