Chara's breathing came out heavier as they scrambled away from the edge of the cell. Sure, further in the cell was colder, but with how many layers they now had on, they didn't care. Sure, the monster had given them warmer layers to wear so they weren't freezing, and sure it had given them warm food to also keep them from getting sick... They were terrified of the creature behind their brother. Plus, the food they were given was always disgusting and only being eaten on the principal that they needed the food to survive!
Cross tensed at the deep voice, it sending almost blissful chills down his spine. He did always have a thing for really deep voices-just like the one now- or really soft and innocent voices. He didn't understand why he liked those things, but it didn't matter. What mattered now, was someone was claiming his sibling as a prisoner.
"What did they do that they deserve this?" He hissed out, not turning around. Instead, he was trying to get the younger closer to him. He wanted to see if they were hurt. It already was going to be difficult with the extra layer of clothing, but the arctic cold was making his fingers numb. So, he was glad that the "warden" gave them something more to wear.
For several minutes there was silence before quiet shuffling. Then the jingling of keys before said keys were by Cross's side. Confused, the shivering skeleton turned around to look who had given him the very thing he would need to free his only family member. Yet, he froze at what he saw.
A large, nearly eight foot tall monster made from ink black goo stood in the soft firelight. There were four dull tentacles protruding from their back, all of them flicking and moving about aimlessly in a peaceful manner. However, it was the brightly glowing cyan eye that caught his attention the most. It was so sad, expressing sorrow and guilt. It exposed a sweet and tender soul, begging to be seen and heard, but it was surround by a cold darkness.
Cross found it so beautiful. He found them so beautiful.
The large monster shrunk back some from the unblinking eyes of his prisoner's brother, purposely hunching down some to seem smaller. He didn't like how those eyes kept sole focus on him... It was as if they were reading into his past, figuring him out.
"They only trespassed onto my land... They did not know so... Leave with them... Take the garments, they appear... Underdressed for the upcoming season..." The monster of tar whispered, his deep voice carrying through the cramped area. They then turned and hurried off, unable to take the eyes.
When the dark monster was finally out of Cross's eyes, did he finally blink and focus back onto what he had came there to do. Freeing his younger sibling. The rusty door creaked loudly as it was pulled open, but it appeared to open far smoother than any of the other doors in the Castle.
Quickly, Chara hurried out of the cramped cell, clinging to their brother.
"Y-you're amazing!" They hissed lowly, eyes wide in bewilderment. Cross had just scared such a big monster into submissive! Had it on the run!
The white skeleton said nothing, just lightly patting them on the head. He was surprised though, that something that big was so scared of someone as small as him. Okay, okay, he's not that small, he is standing around six feet, but he didn't think he was that outwardly intimidating.
Shaking his head some, he began to lead his sibling out of rundown Castle. It had such potential to be a beautiful home, haunting in the night like area, but still so beautiful. Why had the creature allowed it to fall into nothingness? He was sure that this place was their home.
Shaking his head again, he brought his sibling to the warmer air of the outside world, only pausing to look at the rusted gate and his horse. Somehow, the gate was pushed all the way open on both sides and Cross's horse was now tied to a dead tree, eating some moldy hay. The moldy hay wouldn't really hurt his horse, but he was confused on where it came from.
However, he kept a straight face. He knew that his sibling would freak out if they didn't think he did that. There was, after all, only one other person who could've opened the gates and given his horse hay.
Helping Chara onto the horse, Cross gave one last look at the Castle. Easily, he spotted that glowing, cyan eye. An eye of someone so beautiful that it had frozen the harden monster. Quickly though, that eye disappeared by into the folds of darkness that was the Castle.
