Cross had to leave early, to talk with the people. He was upset that they got curious faster than he had thought. No, he was upset that they gained enough confidence to enter the Manor at all. Even still, they had seen his Senpai in a vulnerable way. He knew they'd want answers on why he was there, but they will want him to kill Nightmare. He knew how bastards like them thought.

Everyone was already at the old meeting hall. It was built sometime during the beginning of the village. The time of the village when they were under the rule of their Kingdom's Emperor. A rule that no one but Nightmare would have true knowledge of.

When Cross had entered the ancient building, the town's eyes were zoned on him. He could almost tell what they were thinking.

'He was with that monster.'

'Was he under its control?'

'Is he going to hurt us?'

'Why does he look calm?'

'Does he hate us? We're his town!'

Their confused and betrayed eyes stared at him like he was a two headed creature with unusual wings. He hated those looks. He wanted to get rid of them, yet he couldn't. He didn't bring a weapon with him.

"I know you all have questions." He started before he glared down at them when he saw some of them boldly opening their mouths. "However, I don't care about them."

This caused a riot. Everyone shouting over and at each other, like it was someone else's fault. Their words and complaints blended with the words next to them, nothing was being done. Cross was fine with that. The more they hate each other, the less likely they were to go after Nightmare. Perhaps they would leave Nightmare alone all together?

That thought was crushed as their yelling soon turned over to the gooey skeleton. They shouted many horrible things about the monster. Their words, he heard them all with ease. He hated all those words. It burned his soul with anger.

"He's not a monster!" The white clad monster screamed, his voice bouncing off the hard walls.

Everyone jumped, their eyes wide as they stared at him in fear. He knew he had his teeth bared and his eyes filled with rage. He closed his eyes and took a deep breath. He needed to calm down before he did something they'd regret.

"How..." Cross looked up. "How is that thing not a monster?" Chara was seething. "They held me in a dungeon! They feed me rot!" They snapped, leaning forward some.

The pale skeleton scoffed some, rolling his eyes.

"It was all he had, and you trespassed on his property." He hissed lowly. "I've been there enough times to know that he has no food. The only food he eats is what I bring him!" His voice was growing louder and louder, anger seeping through every word.

Chara scoffed some, looking enraged.

"You bring him our food? Our hard-earned food?" They waved their hands up. "Why are you catering to that, that monster!" Cross narrowed his eyes, gritting his teeth. "We should kill it before it kills us!" The people around the teen began to nod, grunting some.

The white clad monster had enough, slamming his hands against wooden podium. The force of it had caused the wood the crack and splinter. He looked down at the ruined podium, a scowl present on his face.

"He doesn't deserve that." He hissed loudly. "He did nothing to any of us! He has left us alone; we didn't even know about him till you trespassed on his land!" He raised his head and screamed the rest, his rage portrayed on his face. "He's been nothing but kind and gentle with me! All he wants is to be loved and wanted. I love and want him! He's mine, and if you even-"

The room became tensed and silent as a dark tentacle wrapped around the pale skeleton's waist. It gently squeezed him before the owner of it walked out of the shadows.

Unlike in the Manor, the gooey skeleton's face was firm and bored looking. His cyan eye was cold and calculating. However, it wasn't annoyed, if the people looked long enough, they would've seen it was glowing sadly.

"Enough about this." His voice was low and deep. "I only want Cross to come back to my Manor... Can't you just let him come and go in peace?" If anyone was truly paying attention to him, they would've heard the note of sorrow in his voice. "What is wrong with me wanting someone to notice me?"

Cross moved backward to his Senpai. Quickly, he wrapped the taller into a possessive hug. He pressed his head into their sternum, breathing in their sour-mildewy scent. It wasn't completely likeable, but it was familiar in a way. For him, knowing Nightmare was right next to him, in his arms, he felt happy and peaceful.

Slowly, he pulled and glared back at the town's people who looked frightened.

"He's harmless and allowed to roam peacefully. Meeting adjourned." Before anyone could yell at them, the white clad monster pulled the other out of the church. With quick strides he made it up to his home outside the town. Once at his door, he paused before opening it, looking Nightmare in the eye. "I'm glad you're here." He then opened the door and pulled the terrifying beauty inside.
