Nightmare was bored. Neither the children nor Cross had visited him in a while. Cross had already told him why, but that didn't make his boredom any better.
He bit his lips before he got himself out of his bed. The children couldn't visit him because they could be lost or get hurt, but he could visit them? Right? He can be out of the Manor for three days, he could see them... Play with them for those days...
Nightmare nodded to himself, slowly leaving his room. He was nervous though. Rightfully, as the parents could try and attack him. He doesn't want to get attacked and accidently kill them... That wouldn't make the kids happy, that would make them hate him. He doesn't want them to hate him... He doesn't want to hurt anyone anymore...
The gooey monster took a deep breath, calming himself. He just needed to calm down. Things won't go that wrong.
Quickly, he hurried off before he could psych himself out of it. He wanted to be there before it got too late in the day. He knew it wouldn't be right if he got there too late, the children would have better things to do.
It wasn't long before he was at the edge of the forest, at the edge of the town. He then looked to the village, hiding in the shadows. He watched as the adults moved about their day, some dragging their bored looking children.
Biting his lip and taking another deep breath, he exposed himself to them. The village almost immediately stopped when they noticed him. The children's eyes widen before they began to grin.
Swiftly, the children escaped their parents' grasps and hands. Quickly, the gooey monster was surrounded by the adorable little children. They quickly covered the tall monster in hugs, giggles and laughter sounding from them.
"Night! You're back!" They cheered.
The gooey monster smiled to them, kneeling down to their level. Gently, he hugged them all the best he could. Before he could say anything, the children all began to tell them about their days, how bored they had been. The older children asked if they could follow Nightmare back to the Manor so they could be there for him.
"We know it must be lonely in that Manor for you." The oldest hummed, giving the other a sweet smile.
Night chuckled softly, rubbing the human boy's head. "That would be nice, but your parents wouldn't like that." He hummed lowly.
The children pouted heavily, whining about being bored in the town and how unfair their parents were being. The skeletal monster smiled at them, softly telling them that their parents were only looking out for them.
The children softly scoffed at his words, but they then began to pull him with them.
"We have to show you around!" They cheered happily, making him chuckle. He didn't stop them nor say anything about it, letting them pull him wherever they please. This was the second time he was actually in the village, so he wanted to see it.
The children were very excited about showing the other around, talking about the history of the town the best they could. They had also explained what they had to do to just have some fun! Nightmare listened to every word that the children uttered, nodding and asking questions.
It wasn't long before it was night time, the children pouted when the he had said that he needed to go home. Their pouting, nearly crying faces, broke him.
"How about, I come back tomorrow with some books for a quick study session?" He offered, smiling sweetly to them.
Those sadden faces quickly shifted to a beaming happiness as they nodded.
"Can we help you build a house here! It would be easier to visit you when Cross is away!" The oldest called out.
The gooey monster chuckled before nodding. That would be easier. "Alright, we can try that tomorrow."
With that promise in place, he went back home to rest and pack for the day. He hopes he could possibly see Cross return... Maybe he and Cross could spend time together in his village, get them to like him a bit? Or was that a pipe dream?
