Once Poppy left the next morning to head to the dining hall for breakfast I began searching our dorm high and low for my bracelet.
I know where it is but I am too afraid to really admit it to myself.
Hopefully if I sneak in there later I can find it before someone else does.
I plan to go between passing maybe after third period. Usually then most people are on the west side of campus, so the east side should be pretty clear.
Since the pool is located on the east side that means hopefully good news for me. Less likely to get caught.
When Jordan sits beside me in first period, history he immediately knows somethings up.
Am I that easy to read?
Great.
"What's up Angel, looks like you have something you're hiding. Oooh let me guess, you snuck out last night to go skinny dipping in the pool?" He whispers the last part in my ear.
Normally I would have a good comeback or at least smack his arm but right now I am too freaked out to react.
Since I don't react his smug grin turns into a slightly worried expression.
"Seriously Quinn what's up?"
He rarely calls me Quinn, the only time I have ever heard him use it was when we first met.
It was also when I realized I hated him, but that's a story for another day.
"Nothing." I mumble and his brows knit together.
He grips my chin turning my face to look at him. His gray eyes pierce mine.
"Tell me what the fuck is going on." He says, his voice stern.
I sigh, giving in. "I lost my bracelet ok?"
He releases my chin, his brows still drawn tight.
"What are you talking about?"
I show him my bare wrist.
"Last night I had my bracelet on in the pool, when I got back to the dorms it was gone." I tell him.
He just stares at me for a moment and I think he's about to yell at me.
I brace my self for something that never comes.
"Are you going to look for it?" He asks, his tone indifferent.
He doesn't even sound that scared. Why would he? It wasn't his bracelet.
"Yeah after third period." I tell him and he nods, "Ok where do you want to meet up?"
This catches my attention.
"Meet up?" I ask and he nods again, "Yeah so I can help you find it. Two sets of eyes are better than one."
"Why would you want to help me?" I blurt.
He shrugs, "If someone finds it you could get in trouble and then who would I compete with for valedictorian?" he nudges my shoulder, "Plus it wasn't your idea to go there in the first place, you shouldn't get blamed for it."
There is a weird sincerity in his eyes.
"Thank you." I say genuinely.
Whoah that felt weird to say to him.
"So where are we meeting up?"

I wait beside the arts building for Jordan.
