As I get ready for P.E. I can't help but look over to Poppy.
The only day something really weird happened. I mean super strange.
It was a Saturday and I had decided to take a run around the perimeter of the school that morning.
When I had woken up Poppy was still asleep, even when I left for my run she was buried deep under her covers.
I was halfway through my run around the perimeter when I saw her standing near a tree.
It was something straight out of Riverdale or some shit like that.
Of course naturally I hid behind another tree, she was on the phone with someone - who exactly I don't know - either way what I caught from her head was super peculiar.
"I haven't been here that long I don't know what you expect from me." She had said.
I leaned closer to hear better.
"No, I promise I remember why I am here. I think something is off about her but I'm not sure."
Who is her?
"Yes I promise I will learn everything. Okay, love you bye." She hangs up and I had hid further into the trees so she couldn't see me.
Once she was out of view I finished my run.
Every night, well it's only been two nights since then I haven't been sleeping well.
What if she tries to suffocate me with a pillow while I am asleep?
"I think we are starting basketball today." Della tells me, dragging me out of my thoughts.
I flit my gaze from Poppy to Della.
"Really?" I ask and she nods, "Ugh, I hate basketball." I groan.
I suck at it, and it's humiliating that I can't get a stupid ball into a hoop.
Once we are all seated in the bleachers Mrs. Truman sure enough tells everyone we are playing basketball today.
Whoop whoop.
"Why don't we have Lily be captain of team A." Mrs. Truman says and I roll my eyes.
Of course she is captain.
"And for team B we will have Sadie be captain." Sadie bounces down towards Mrs. Truman.
"Now you two may begin picking your team." She says and Lily goes first.
She picks Cadence, a girl who's friends with Sarah.
Of course.
"Quinn." Sadie says and I stand before heading over to her.
"Della." Poppy says and I throw imaginary daggers at her with my eyes.
Poppy not Della. Never Della.
Once both teams are filled Mrs. Truman blows her whistle.
"Now we are changing it up, by switching teams." She says and we all look at her like she's crazy.
"Everyone beside the captain of team A will switch with everyone besides the captain of team b." She announces.
You have got to be kidding me.
We all begin to switch sides, I am now on Poppy's team.
Go me!
Somehow at some point I get the ball.
Who was stupid enough to throw me the ball?
I throw it immediately and accidentally throw it to the other time.
Whoops, not my bad. Whoever passed it to me should've known after the past three years I can't play basketball.
By the end of the first game, Poppy won't stop giving me these looks. Almost like I am purposing losing.
Babe, trust me if I could play I would.
At the end of P.E. we haven't won one game.
When we enter the lockers Poppy has the audacity to approach me.
"Why would you do that?" She asks her brows pinched together.
It's quite adorable how she's trying to act all tough and scary.
Cute.
"I didn't do anything." I say shrugging as I strip my shirt off.
She scoffs, "You lost on purpose because I was on your team wasn't it? Sarah warned me you were a bitch."
Whoah where did this come from?
I want to know what Sarah's feeding her. All the lies she is telling. Oh I would pay to hear the horse shit that comes from that bitches mouth.
"Sweetie you think too much of yourself. I wouldn't purposefully throw a game to spite you, that's not my style." I say and she rolls her eyes.
I want to know what happened to that little blushing shy girl who switched beds with me the first night.
Was she real or just an act?
I am finished changing by the time she speaks again.
"Please Sarah told me how you stole Della from her freshman year. How you even poisoned Jordan against her. How pathetic can you be to have to steal someone else's friends." She says and I slam my locker shut causing a few heads to turn.
Mostly everyone has left and headed out to next period but there are still a few onlookers.
"First of all Sarah is the reason neither of them want anything to do with her, not me. Secondly Jordan isn't my friend, we've had this conversation before which was when I told you what she did to him. Keep letting her fill your head with lies I don't care but don't you dare think you can just waltz over to me like you know me and spew lies."
I take a step closer to her, "Trust me sweetie, you don't want me as your enemy. I know where you sleep and I have a nice sharp pair of scissors waiting for your perfectly even hair." I say twirling the ends of it with my finger before dropping it.
She huffs, "You are a bitch."
I smile, "Never said I wasn't." And with that I leave the locker room because this was too Regina George even for me.

"You won't really cut her hair will you?" Della asks at dinner later that day.
Word got around fast that I threatened her. It was only her hair people need to calm down.
"Who's hair are you cutting?" Casper asks as I butter my dinner roll.
"Poppy's, she had the audacity to confront me in the locker rooms and tell me that I stole both Della and Campbell from her." I turn to Jordan, "Like I would ever choose to steal you."
He grins and I give him a confused look.
"Wait she said that?" Della asks and I turn my attention back towards her.
"Yes, as if she knows what really happened freshman year. I mean it's pathetic really backing Sarah." I say and Casper nods, "Girl is psycho."
"Should you even be sleeping in the same room as her. What if Sarah convinces her to take pictures. Oh god it could be like freshman year all over again." Della whines.
I shake my head, "That won't happen, plus I think my threat worked and if it didn't her hair will be an uneven mess the rest of the year. Like my barbie doll after I discovered the kitchen had knives." I say before taking a sip of my fizzy water.
Casper retracts, "I am scared of you." He tells me making me smile.
"As you should be."
If Poppy thinks I was bluffing she has another thing coming.
