Mary Jenkins's POV
"Sorry Sir, we couldn't catch on anything about Phantom last night..." I apologised to George, my superior.
"It's alright, I understand how difficult taking down on the Gambit Empire can be. Let's keep our head up, don't let this defeat you," George reassured me.
I am seriously so thankful towards George for his faith in me, and so the more supportive he is, the more I felt driven to push for results.
I went back to my desk and pulled out Leo's business card. I know I probably won't be able to get any concrete evidence of Gambit Empire's crimes from him, but at least he is familiar with the mafia world back in Sicily, I am sure he would be able to shed some light about last night's ball and the operation of Gambit Empire back in Sicily.
So I called him and arranged to meet him at a cafe near my workplace.
*At the Cafe*
As I waited anxiously in the cafe for Leo, I could feel how tensed up I was because the moment of unintentional kiss we shared was still deeply imprinted in my mind.
"Hi, Mary," I was cut off from my trance mode when Leo came walking up to me with a face that was lit up with a stallion smile. He was in his dark coloured jeans and a casual V neck white shirt coupled with a black leather jacket thrown over it.
Gosh... this man is a total waste if he is not a celebrity dabbling in the fashion industry. Just the mere presence of him in the cafe has already got girls swooning their attention to him.
Even I can't deny how much a heartthrob he is because he is truly outstanding with just his mere looks. But I wouldn't say his looks is unrivalled because honestly... Nick is as hot as he is. And that got me anchored back to earth.
Mary... stay on task! Stay on task!
I gulped water from my glass as I recomposed myself in front of Leo, "Hi Leo, thanks for taking out the time to meet me."
"Always my pleasure," His eyes glistened as he looked back at me with that bright face of his.
I blinked hard and cleared my throat before explaining to him why I asked to speak to him today.
"Leo, I understand that you are a businessman back in Sicily and so I believe you have some connections with the mafia world back there too. So... I'm pretty sure you would have heard of the Gambit Empire right?" I asked as I fiddled nervously with my fingers.
He leaned back against the chair and nodded as he folded his arms, revealing his thick and muscular arms, "Yea, it's not hard to learn about them back in Sicily, especially when money is involved."
Then he leaned forward and clasped his hands together in a serious mannerism, "You do know it's dangerous to mess with the Gambit Empire right?"
I bit my lips in hesitation before I pulled out my identity card and showed it to him, "Look, since you saved my life back in Sicily, I'm going to go with my guts that I can trust you. I'm actually a prosecutor from the Office of International Affairs. I have been working on bringing down the Gambit Empire all my life, and I thought maybe you could give me a hand here."
"I appreciate your frankness and your trust in me. But... why the Gambit Empire? Are you doing it for the fame or the money?" He raised his brows at me questionably.
I felt a tinge of insult from his question, however, I wouldn't blame him, after all, not many people were supportive of me using my lifetime career going against the Gambit Empire because everyone knows how hard it is to bring them down.
