Mary Jenkins's POV

"Mary? Mary?"

"Yea?" I got cut off from my daze when Nick called out to me.

"What were you thinking?" Nick asked with a concerned look.

Leo. But of course, I can't tell him that my mind has been filled with Leo since last night.

"Nothing," I brushed off his concern with a smile and he continued, "So I was saying now that you have submitted the paperwork to put their account on an investigation, the Interpol will be carrying out raids starting from their bottom hierarchy. This would disrupt their core operation business, and that should be enough to lure their higher hierarchy to take actions. As long as the snakes are out of their dens, this would make it even easier for us to seize them and put them on trial."

"That sounds brilliant," I complimented Nick.

It's no wonder why he has been promoted to such a high powered role at such a young age. His decisiveness and his quick-mindedness in carrying out an extensive plan this swiftly within a short span of time were indeed impeccable.

If only I wasn't ever that pawn in his chess game...

"Once their account is under investigation, Serpente and Phantom would definitely take actions. We need to be on high alert, in case our identity has been exposed," Nick explained to me in a serious tone.

"Alright, I know," I acknowledged his concern.

Suddenly, he held my hands in his and that got me immediately retrieving my hands from him.

He seemed taken aback by my reaction. Then he licked his dry lips before he continued to say, "Mary... The point is, I'm worried about you. Ever since we got to Sicily, I have been so afraid of losing you to them. So please... don't go anywhere without letting me know, alright?"

I nodded and reassured him with a plastered smile, "I will be alright, don't worry."

He still looks unsettled as he continued to linger in my office before finally spewing out his main concern to me, "Where did you go last night?"

"Don't be ridiculous... Can't you see I'm sitting here right in front you, still alive?" I exasperated.

Since when... since when did talking with Nick became this draining?

"I'm not being ridiculous, Mary. Do you have any idea how terribly worried I was when I couldn't find you back at the office last night? I combed streets after streets like a maniac, I almost lost my mind, do you even know that?" The anguish in his tone was notable.

What he said got me guilt-stricken, because I was enjoying myself so much last night that I had forgotten to inform him on my whereabouts.

"I'm sorry... Nick... I'm sorry," I got up to him and hugged him as I apologised to him from the bottom of my heart.

It must have been awful for him last night, no wonder he was panting heavily in sweat when he came to find me at the door of my hotel room last night.

"I promise I won't make you worry about me any more. You stay safe too, alright?" I said to him.

"Mary..." His eyes lit up in delight as he held me in his embrace.

I would be lying if I say I no longer felt a thing for him.

Just what do I want? Him or... Leo?

*1 Day later*

Phantom's POV

The whole day I watched Serpente pacing back and forth, cursing and swearing away upon the news of our account being held under investigation.
