The minute Killian had successfully escorted Ruvik to the location of the abandoned building, he instantly scurried to the side, not wanting to involve himself with Dimitri's petty revenge case.

This wasn't what Killian signed up for when he joined the Military Police.

To this day, he's still not sure how he managed to graduate tenth place when he finished the Training Corps, but he wasn't complaining.

His own family back home was surprised to hear he graduated at all, if that helps explain how much of a hopeless mess he is. In fact, his parents were so surprised, they took the liberty of inviting everyone in his neighborhood to celebrate his graduation with a feast.

If Killian didn't find that embarrassing enough, then it was when he found out his childhood crush, Irina Ratliff, was also one of the several people who were invited to the graduation party.

Apparently, Killian's parents thought that since he managed to return home in one piece from the Training Corps and as a soldier serving under the King instead of a body bag, he was brave enough to confess how he felt to Irina and get married or something.

Killian, fortunately, managed to somehow not embarrass himself, and found a way to avoid his parents and their advances on trying to, in his father's words,"lighten the mood", or whatever the hell that meant.

Deciding not to continue reliving the past, Killian watched the soldiers sneak up on Ruvik, holding him back from attacking Dimitri. The blond was smirking as he watched the Scout struggle to escape from their grasp.

Killian clicked his tongue in disgust at his superior officer's actions. If Killian had a list of people he hated working with, Demetri would always remain on top of it. Killian hated him.

Demetri may be his superior officer, but he was definitely not a man worth respecting. Since day one, Demetri made Killian's life at work at living hell. From making him patrol his hours, keeping watch while he does illegal business when selling Military Police property, to pressuring him into screwing up his jobs at work.

If anyone asked how Killian reacted when Demetri and his lackeys ordered him to send a letter to the legendary Watchdog of the Walls, he will be honest and say he was very close to pissing himself. It took a lot of running around, since Killian had to scale Wall Rose during the clean-up operation the Garrison and the Scouts were completing...only for him to find out he was taken into a medical center from sustaining injuries in battle, but Killian found him.

Now, Killian couldn't stop that was growing in his chest at what he was witnessing.

All of this torment, for what? Not murdering an innocent girl?

Bullshit, this was because of Demetri and his selfish need to regain his pride.

That reminded him of what Ruvik said earlier.

"A comrade is someone who shoulders your burdens, they don't make them."

From the corner of his hazel eye, Killian caught a flap of green fabric slip behind one of the storage crates inside. He furrowed his brows in confusion. "What the..."

Killian shut up once he saw another one run near the edge of the room, behind some abandoned desks in the room. At that point, Killian realized who they were.

It was the Survey Corps.

They were here to rescue Ruvik, they must have found the letter Ruvik left behind.

What were they waiting for, a diversion?

If so...maybe he could help with that...?

Killian's eyes darted around, searching his surroundings for a solution, until finally landing on one of the MP's standard edition firearms leaning against a crate.
