"Oy! Return her before dinner time, you two!" Keishin called out at the ginger-nightsky head duo. It was Hinata and Kageyama's turn to have their date with Akane. With this, they gave up their practice for today.
They carried Akane's change of clothes and rushed to the front gate where she was waiting.
"Akane-san!" Hinata called, waving wildly at his friend. He flashed her a bright smile which she returned. Kageyama only nodded as he shifted his bag. He took the responsibility of carrying the bags as Hinata would be the one to talk out during the whole time.
The two decided to have a picnic at one of the parks that are near a river. They thought a nice touch of nature would be refreshing.
"Hey Kageyama," Akane looked up at the setter, "I'm sorry you guys had to miss out practice for this. We can still run back though, I'm okay with skipping this date."
"This was agreed on by the team. It's okay to miss out on the practice once in a while." He replied. Akane winced visibly and tapped his shoulder.
"That was painful to hear from you."
Hinata broke out in laughter upon understanding the statement. Of course, hearing Kageyama say that line is painful enough because he is one of the people who is hungry for practices. Quite the opposite of what's he doing at the moment.
They reached the park and Hinata quickly sprawled over the grass. He stretched out like a cat as Kageyama settled the bags.
"Oy, boke! Help out in setting up, will you?" Kageyama started to reprimand the tiny spiker. Hinata grunted and pouted at him before grudgingly stood up.
Akane smiled at the both of them and helped unfolding the picnic blanket. She sat down and arranged the snacks that Kageyama brought out from the bag. The wind picking up her skirt kept making her feel uncomfortable as she tried to pin it down tightly between her legs. Hinata noticed and sprang up to get the change of clothes.
"There's a public restroom over there. We can go over so you can change, Akane-san." Hinata said. Akane looked up from him to the bag he held out.
"Why do I have to change? I'm fine with eating like this, hehe." Akane tried to sound reassuring.
"We're not just eating out under the sunset, Akane-san! You think Kageyama here would just have that?! No! Hahaha!" Hinata laughed with his eyes widened comically. He got a low glare from Kageyama.
Akane perked up. "Does this mean there's more than just the picnic?!" she thought.
"What else are we doing?" She asked, standing up and grabbing the paperbag.
"We're playing!" Hinata exclaimed, jumping excitedly. "We're going to play the same way we did the first time!"
The two went to the restroom excitedly as Kageyama finished putting out the snacks and juices. It was his plan to play with Akane but with Hinata's suggestion of a picnic, they have to compromise and meet in the middle. Thus, this is the outcome the both of them agreed (after a lot of squabbling).
Kageyama opened one bottle of juice and a box of wafer sticks. He stared out while munching on the snack. In the middle of eating, he heard Hinata called for him.
"Kageyama!"
He turned around and saw Akane wearing jogging pants and a shirt. It was Keishin's jogging pants from when he was a student player so it was a bit big for her (but they can't use Akane's pants right now because both are lazy to do the laundry). The shirt was Akane's that Keishin grabbed from the clothesline. Upon their nearing to their spot, Kageyama brought out the volleyball he kept in his bag. He put their bags unto the picnic blanket to avoid it from being blown away by the wind. Then, he jogged towards his friends.
