After the away games, the team had a short break from practices. During her free time, Akane decided to help out in the family store. She spent her days in stocking and cleaning up. No threat lurked during those days and she relaxed with that comfort. Until something came up; yet again.
"Hey miss." A teenager around her age spoke from the counter. There was three of them, each holding a bottle of beer.
"Let me punch that in please." Akane held her hand out to get the bottles but they raised it up away from her reach.
"We're single and you may be, too. So there is nothing wrong if we'd ask for your name, is there?" Another one spoke, sneering down at her.
"If anything, I'm not interested and you may leave the store for that." Akane said bluntly, gritting her teeth to stop them from trembling.
The shorter one, around Akane's height, wiggled his brows and leaned on the counter with a smirk, "Maybe just a number, then?"
Akane was running out of courage quickly. She was about to melt down when she heard the door open.
"Please leave." A cold voice spoke from behind the trio.
They turned their heads to the tall lad behind them. They smirked with the thought that they outnumber Tsukishima.
"What are you, her boyfriend?" The short one mocked.
Tsukishima shoved him aside and stood beside Akane, "Yes."
Akane's mouth fell open before her mind fully registered what the exchange was. Her eyes darted frantically on to Tsukishima's.
"Tsukki..." She whispered.
"Prove it." A lad said, scowling at Tsukishima.
Without a word, Tsukishima dipped his head and planted a soft kiss at the corner of Akane's lips. She stiffened at the contact but stood still, staring deadly at the teenagers. Her lungs constricted in a feeling of anger and betrayal.
"Leave." She said. It was not clear who she said it to but the teenagers started to walk away.
The shortest one spoke before slamming his bottle of beer on the counter, "We don't believe that act, missy. We'll be back. Mister Hero won't be here by then."
When they were out of the store, Akane shoved Tsukishima and ran out using the back door. The lad was left stunned, both at his and her action. What had he done?
Tears were welling in her eyes and she hastily walked past the door, bumping unto someone. Strong arms caught her and when she looked up, she found herself staring into the eyes of her great-grandfather.
"Akane?" He whispered unbelievingly at the little version of his granddaughter.
"G-Gramps?" Akane stuttered and stood herself more properly.
"What's wrong?" Ikkei asked, noting the forming redness around her eyes.
Akane fixed her hair, "Nothing..."
"Akane..." Ikkei spoke in a warning tone. It was a tone that demanded honesty. But honestly, Akane does not know how to break it to her gramps.
"I was just checking out here for a customer who left without waiting for his change. Promi--" Akane lied through her teeth but was cut off when she heard her name.
"Akane!" Tsukishima caught up with her, "I am so sorry! I was not think--"
Akane wanted to hear nothing more and walked back inside the store, ignoring Tsukishima. He reached out but hesitated, so he let her go. He started to walk back inside the store, too. He planned to wait for her so they can talk it out.
