"Akane-, Akane-, Akane-san!~" Ennoshita and his friends sang out when they walked in on Keishin's store. The trio got picked first and they decided to have their date with Akane as simple as they can. They wanted to have her feel safe walking to and from school, at least for today.
Akane swept aside the the curtain and greeted the boys with a bright smile. After a quick goodbye from Keishin, the four of them left. Then they walked to school. The walk to school was comfortably silent for Akane, though the trio tried to engage her in a conversation, she could not really keep up with them. They understood how she's doing and didn't push with it. If anything, they acted more like bodyguards than her dates.
She felt it would have been nice to listen to Tsukishima's playlist right now but she returned his stuff last night after the volleyball practice. There was something about that particular playlist that made her feel calm during the times she listened to it.
"Ennoshita-san, can we drop by at the school store for a while? I need a fresh set of graphing papers today." Akane requested, tugging slightly at Ennoshita's sleeves. The trio immediately agreed. However, they remembered what time it was and they tensed.
The school store would be packed right now.
They assumed a safety triangle for Akane, spreading their hands to make sure no one is able to touch her. The students looked at them in confusion but just allowed them to be. Akane noticed the strange looks they are getting and once she understood, she laughed at the trio.
"What are you guys doing?" She asked amusingly, "I feel like a celebrity at this point!"
"Well then, be a celebrity all you want for today! We can be your bodyguards!" Narita gave her a thumbs up.
"We can even be your paparazzi's!" Kinoshita winked, whipped out his phone and quickly took a selfie, playing along.
Akane could only laugh as the rest of the little group followed suit. She can't contain her giggles anymore as she got three phones clicking away pictures of them or of her.
Ennoshita smiled and subtly gave a thumbs up with his bestfriends as a sign that they did well with making her feel a lightened mood. After buying her graphing papers, they proceeded to Akane's class room.
"Thanks guys." Akane smiled and she was greeted back with camera flashes again. She laughed them off and hid behind the door, only waving out a hand to dismiss them.
Shaking her head at the whole scene, she plopped down on her seat glowing with a smile. Hinata and Kageyama shared knowing looks, Yamaguchi and Tsukishima doing the same. That's the whole team's goal: to have her smile like that.
Lunch time came by and as she was preparing to eat her lunch, the door slid open.
"Pardon for the intrusion!"
Akane looked up at the familiar sources of voice. It was Ennoshita and the bodyguards. They surveyed the whole room and settled when they found Akane.
"Sato-san! We would like to eat lunch with you if that's okay." Narita beamed at her. Akane nodded gleefully and packed up her lunch. It's better to eat at the cafeteria than have second-years in a first-year classroom. She turned to invite the other team members but they shook their hands.
"We'll get a date with you, anyway. Have fun with the trio, Akane-san!" Hinata explained and waved her goodbye.
She waved back and followed her bodyguards down the cafeteria. Once they settled, they started to eat. Narita decided to treat everyone with an ice cream. Akane laughed as they all quickly tried to save the melting sweetness dripping on their table. It was quite hot today and the ice creams were not taking it well.
During dismissal, she was once again fetched by her bodyguards. As they were going to the gym, they saw a vendor who was strolling down the school's path. He was just going home from the preschool nearby that he stayed at. They saw foldable sunglasses which were made of paper. Each of them bought one and wore it, pretending better at being bodyguards. They gave Akane a different colored foldable sunglass because she was, afterall, the celebrity of today.
"We all look so silly!" Akane giggled as selfies were being captured again. Nevertheless, she smiled and eased up with the trio.
As they were finally on their way to the gym, Takeda walked in on the little group. He smiled as he saw Akane laughing and engaging with them. At the same time, he was worried how to make a day full of laughter the way his students are doing it. His ideas of fun may not be one for Akane at all.
"What a bad timing to belong in the adult population." He thought sourly and felt defeated.
