The venue was beautifully adorned with flowers and there were many familiar faces that Tsukishima could tell. Tanaka did well in inviting his volleyball friends that the waiting period seemed like a highschool reunion.
Tsukishima looked around for one particular person, disguising it by looking like he was fixing his collar. Yamaguchi and Yachi noticed him doing so but kept it quiet with giggles.
"After the long while, it seems he is still after her." Kageyama's voice came from behind the pair.
Yamaguchi looked behind and saw the Karasuno volleyball team he knew when he was a first-year. They looked at him with bright faces and wide smiles.
"I, for one, want to see her. I miss that woman!" Asahi said, crossing his arms, looking out at the entrance as well.
Nishinoya suddenly jutted a finger towards the entrance, "Wah- There she is!"
Tsukishima followed Nishinoya's finger and true enough, there was Akane. Her hair curled atop her breasts, her eyes glittered with make-up, and her lips were in a fresh shade of pink.
She seemed to be looking for someone as her brows kept furrowing and she would hop from one aisle to another.
Tsukishima started to walk towards her as his heart tugged. The team looked at him in anticipation of the reunion. But his steps faltered when a child bumped at his leg and stumbled down.
He looked down and his eyes widened at the familiar thing the child was holding.
It was Ro.
Not knowing what to do and upon seeing Akane approach, he sat at the nearest seat and pretended to look away. He felt like a coward for his actions but it seemed he cannot face her at the moment.
Akane brushed against his arm as she stooped down to the child's level. Tsukishima's ears were heightened at every words exchanged.
"M-Mimi..." The child burbled as she helped him stand.
"Markle! I told you not to run around at this place, of course you will bump to a lot of bigger people." Akane spoke concernedly and grabbed the dinosaur plushie near Tsukishima's foot.
"Sowi..." Markle sniffled.
Akane smiled and dusted the plushie, "Here, take Ro. Let's go back to Dada and you behave, okay?"
Akane was too occupied with the child that she did not notice the simultaneous freezing of the people at the side of the aisle. Tsukishima's head hang as he reviewed the words through his head.
Mimi... Dada...
"I did not know she has a child." Yachi said quietly.
"I did not know she was married!" Yamaguchi exclaimed.
Their eyes went to Tsukishima in a sad wave. Before they could say something to him, the organizer announced the arrival of the bride so they all ushered to their seats.
Tsukishima smiled at Kiyoko as she passed by him. His eyes lingered at the bouquet she was holding.
'Idiot. There was never a promise of you two getting back together for real. What were you expecting?' He scolded himself.
Akane, on the other hand, found her uncle and gave Markle to him. Then she sat to her designated seat. Her breath hitched as her eyes followed Kiyoko down the aisle and they settled on someone that made her heart beat loud.
'Kei...' She thought to herself and smiled, 'He kept his promise.'
Tsukishima smiled sadly at his feet, 'At least I fulfilled it.'
