Akane took a deep breath to steady herself and found comfort in Keishin's supporting eyes. She is home, she is safe, and she will sing this song beautifully.
Everyone was astounded at her crystal clear but sweet voice as she sang. Her eyes kept between the married couple as they chose to dance at her song. Tsukishima could not believe his eyes and ears.
She is singing and she is in front of him.

Forcing laughter, faking smiles
Same old tired, lonely place
Walls of insincerity, shifting eyes and vacancy

Tanaka laughed at the last two lines and Kiyoko smiled sweetly at him.

The playful conversation starts

Kiyoko said something to Tanaka that made him blush and look away. Camera flashed at the cute exchange.

Tanaka twirled Kiyoko and fireworks shot up as the chorus rolled.

Kiyoko lipsynced the lyrics to Tanaka who was left to nothing but a blushing mush. Everyone laughed at the state of the rough dog of the neighborhood.
The lingering question kept me up
2 AM, who do you love?

Tsukishima secretly glanced at Akane. The same question ran in his mind with the amount of times making him distracted.
And now I'm pacing back and forth

Akane turned to look at Tsukishima but would blink away as soon as someone else looks at her.

The second set of fireworks erupted in the sky, sparkling the night indeed.

Akane took one last look at the pair then her eyes went to Tsukishima's and they remained there for the whole bridge of the song.

These are the words I held back, as I was leaving too soon
Flashbacks of their lone nights after highschool and college rushed in their minds. Tsukishima kept the image of her burned in his mind, reliving the days they've spent together. Akane held back what her heart wanted to say when he promised under the moon, and when she left for college.

Akane broke the eye contact and closed her eyes.

The team and even the married couple dancing in the middle of everyone's attention noticed the tone of Akane's voice change. They knew she's not singing anymore for them. She's singing to him.

She opened her eyes and the third set of fireworks lit up the sky all around them. Among the colors that popped, Tsukishima focused on her. He saw the tears glistening on her eyes as she blinked them back, focusing on the song again.

Finishing the last note, Akane smiled and pretended like she did not call out for love in the middle of her performance. The backup singer sang the last lines of the song and to her surprise, her friends sang along. A different meaning is behind their actions as they smiled encouragingly at her while they sang:

Please don't have somebody waiting on you
Tanaka and Kiyoko clapped their hands at Akane, a knowing smile plastered on their faces. They did not mind what happened midway. For all of Akane's knowledge, these two were big shippers of her and Tsukishima.
When the audience roared in applause, Akane bowed and excused herself to get some fresh air. Her heart hammered at what she had did. The embarrassment now fully settling in her mind.
She leaned over Keishin's car, heaving breaths. The parking lot was quieter and darker but the moon, in its small glory, gave a decent glow. Then she smelled the same cologne that brought her back to the first selfie she had taken with the team.
It was Tsukishima's.
"You have a nice voice." He spoke warmly. Gone were his hesitations as he was sure now on how to dance to this moment with her.
Akane welled up at his voice and she croaked, "You were rude to me."
Tsukishima was taken aback but looked down at her in his own menacing way, then he smiled, "I'm sorry, shortcake. Though I see you're still a cryer."
Akane was about to protest but Tsukishima placed a hand under her chin, the furrow on her brows dissolved in confusion. He tilted her head to look up at him.
"Still a cryer, still uncle's favorite, still the light of everyone's conversation, still the surprise..."
Akane whispered, "Kei..."
Tsukishima dipped his head and planted a soft kiss at the corner of her lips.
"And I still love you."
