"Come on, in here." Nelson breathed.

The three of them stood huddled in the doorway of the bedroom, waiting as the door was pushed open. Turning on the overhead light via the switch, the host of the noise became evident.

Sprawled on the edge of the bed was a mangy black cat, it's back to the door. As the light flickered on, its ears curved upward, it knew that it was being watched.

"I didn't know granny had a cat" Amy let out in a pleasant surprise.

She had always wanted a pet but due to her age, neither parent would allow it. So any chance to interact with one, she would take it. Since it was in the house, all comfy like that, she must be friendly, at least that's the conclusion of a twelve year old.

Cautiously, Nelson warned her, "She doesn't own a cat Amy..."

Baffled by what he came out with, she stopped in her tracks, waiting for an explanation.

"Granny feeds the stray ones when they are in the yard but mum didn't ever mention her taking one of them in"

"What's the big deal?" Morgan retorted

"How did it get in here?" Nelson targeted Morgan who didn't care to respond.

Getting fidgety, "Can I pet the cat Nels?"

He tilted his head to one side, still unsure if it was meant to be in the house, "If it's friendly, sure."

Excited, Amy began making pushed lip noises in the hopes to get its attention.

It turned sharply to see her, its face exposed to the overhead light. It's eyes were an odd blackened shade, its tiny teeth slipped from its mouth, a frosty bubble came from its mouth.

Nelson called out in fright, "Amy get away from the cat!"

Innocently, "What's wrong with it's-"

Froth flared outwards as it closed the space between Amy and the cat. It attached itself to her arm like a magnet.

"It's got rabies!" Morgan thundered.

"Nelson!"
