"Don't have a mardy Amy, we are going into Granny's room." Nelson mimicked at his sister, who at this point was already quite uncomfortable and shifting between both feet.
Apprehensively, Nelson pushed forward the door, it slid across but didn't open all the way, he tried to hide his fear from Morgan who in turn brushed past into the room to turn on the light by the bed side, they weren't impressed.
"Where is she mate seriously? That woman is-"
They were cut off by a gurgling sound.
Amy and Nelson joined the door and their eyes followed Morgan's.
At the side of the room, hidden by the door, was a vanity. Seated there was their brother, the one who hadn't come back downstairs like they had expected.
Listlessly, "Axel?"
Nelson felt his sister's hand grab onto his. She was shaken.
The three of them couldn't see his face. From the angle they were standing (the two much taller teenagers at least) the reflection in the glass only showed his jaw down. He was awfully pale and looked very unwell. The kind of unwell you get when you have to stay in bed.
"Right, well. Where's Granny?" Nelson mustered, with no response he shook off Amy's hand and moved closer to his brother, looking down on him, "knock it off already!"
Axel let out a raspy moan. His head moved over his shoulder and then up to make eye contact with his brother but it happened so slowly that it put his brother on edge.
Nelson was fixed in place. Horrified by what he saw.
Axel's eyes rolled back as if fading into his skull, his jaw widening so far out it was inhuman. His teeth became clearer and coated in heavy saliva with a rotting odor.
"Argh what the-" Nelson jumped back petrified.
"Axel!" Amy screamed.
"Dude, what's up with his face?" Morgan vociferated.
In the eruption of terror, the child leapt from his seat at the vanity. Sinking his baby teeth into the cheek of his brother with such brute strength that it tore the top layer of skin, exposing blood and tissue.
Nelson stumbled back, falling as his calf struck the bed, causing himself and Morgan to flump to the floor.
Morgan let out a petrified scream as Nelson's cheek became highlighted by the gaps in the lampshade.
Amy was frozen to the spot, aghast.
Somehow the first bite just wasn't enough. Whatever Axel was now, it was ravenous.
It's eyes filled cloudy white and patches of green and purple morphed into his skin as he went in for his second helping, this time though, it wasn't his brother who was tasted.
and he wouldn't be the last...
