Ofcourse some clichè story of that orange coloured app which has the capital letter 'W' in it on the icon defines the word 'love' as 'millionaire x his assistant' or 'brother's bestfriend x brother's sister' or 'bestfriend's brother x bestfriend' and lastly 'popular guy of the campus x nerd'.
Since childhood I've never liked the term 'nerd' just because they're antisocial or introvert or speak less unlike you, DOESN'T mean they're nerd.

Oxford defines the term 'love' as 'very strong affection' or 'like very much'.

Love is a very common term to express your feelings to your loved one's.
