Mia Duncan's POV

My mind was somewhere in heaven when my lips touched his. It was incredible and magnificent. I was on cloud nine. I can't explain what I just did with him, Detective Harsh that I was being negotiated with and had made my living hell after I met him. He always happened to be at the wrong place where he can see all the illegal activities that I tried to conceal from the world. Unfortunately, he was able to see it.

He snaked his hands around my waist as I snaked my hands around his neck. I pulled out the tiny needle that has a serum that will make this all a dream and he will forget about it tomorrow. In the back of my mind, I don't want this to be over, not with him bugging me around and I can't have my peaceful life back.

But it was different. A good difference.

I punched it on the jugular vein at the back of his neck as he went deeper for the kiss. I obliged and responded to it eagerly. I can see myself with him, having kids, and growing old together. That's what snapped me before pulling out of the kiss.

I stopped the kiss. I looked at him before he looked at me with hooded eyes filled with emotions that I wouldn't, couldn't have if I want to stay alive.

"Sorry," was all I could manage to utter to him before running out of the interrogation room. I went outside of the building and stopped to take a breath in the foyer of the Scotland Yard station.

I looked back at the window and saw that the mysterious woman, the IT person, was looking at me intensely before disappearing from the window. I sighed before my phone rang. It was an unknown number but I knew who called.

"Duncan," I said as I picked up the phone.

"The package has been delivered for your mission tomorrow. Do not fail and get caught. As usual, best of luck to you," he said before hanging up. I sighed as I put the phone in my handbag and hailed for a taxi to get out of this area.

Liam Hunt's POV

I was shocked, no, paralyzed to be honest when she kissed me out of the blue. I can still feel her warm skin and her soft lips on mine. Her sweet feminine scent of lavender and vanilla. I can still feel her small frame as I hugged her when she kissed me. Then I felt something at the back of my neck before she broke the kiss and went out of the room after uttering a sorry.

I mean, what the hell was that for?!!

"Hunt, the boss is calling for you," Fred said as he tapped on my shoulder which got me out of my dreams.

The kiss, her scent, and her lithe frame.

Everything.

"Huh? Yeah, I'll be right there," I said before closing some of the files on Mia Duncan. She did not lie about her father being Croatian. Alberto Duncan, was 35 years old when he was deceased with his wife, Rebecca Duncan in a car accident in Glasgow, Scotland.

I knocked on my captain's door before she ushered me in.

"Hunt, I got a new assignment for you. Tomorrow, John Pravin will be attending a charity ball at the Mestrovic Gallery in Croatia. I want you to go undercover there as he was one of the most wanted people in Interpol. You leave tonight," she said as it was like in the backyard.

"But boss, I still have a case to be solved," I said.

"Mia Duncan was not a threat. John Pravin is. Now, go home and pack your stuff. You leave at 9 PM," she said before dismissing me. I nodded at her before getting out of the office and Fred was waiting for me outside.

"So, what she wants with you?" Fred said as he was curious about the stuff that I was being told.

"I need to be in Croatia," I said before leaving him behind.
