Liam Hunt's POV
"Mia! Mia! Mia!" I was calling after Mia as I got out of myself from the strains of the rope on the chair. I finally get out of the rope and ran after Mia. She was about to jump off the building before I stopped her.
"Mia, stop. Where are you going?" I asked her as I pulled her down from the edge.
"I'm a monster. I can never be with you. I need to find my peace before I can be with you, please just let me go, Liam," she said as she was crying so hard. My heart ached as I looked at her tears. I pulled her into a hug as I was about to burst into tears.
"Don't go," I whispered to her.
"I have to, I don't belong in your world," she said as she looked up at me. I smiled weakly at her.
"Just give me one thing, you will come back to me after you find yourself," I said as I looked at her.
"Why?" She asked.
"Because I believe you only belong to me," I said as I pulled out an emerald engagement ring. It was a princess cut with a thin band that fits perfectly on her long fingers. I got onto one knee and looked at her.
"Ms. Mia Duncan, will you be the owner of being the only queen of my heart?" I asked her. She was speechless.
"Promise me that you will find me after your journey, or I will find you," I said firmly as I looked into her eyes. She smiled at me as she was caressing my cheeks.
"Well, if you say so," she said as I put the ring on. She looked at it and I knew it would fit perfectly.
"No promises?" She asked as she looked at me.
"I took my chances," I said before she pulled me into a searing kiss. I was flying as I held her close to me.
"Goodbye, Liam Hunt," she said as she put her forehead onto mine.
"Till next time, milady," I said before she went to the edge and jump off the building. I went to look over and she was gone entirely.
*****
After the event, I called Interpol and told them the whole story about Mr. Burgess and how he was related to Marina Kasun. Both of the bodies have been recovered. I hid the dagger that had Mia's fingerprint and stowed it away from the evidence.
Marco and Anastasia were also being witnesses as Interpol did not know about their true identities. Mia had set up that they would be Mr. and Mrs. Conti, a tourist couple from Italy that happened to be in the crossfire. I was the one that was in charge and needed to make a report. I flew back to Scotland and I was greeted by my partner, Fred.
"Mate, over here," he called over as I went to him. I only had one backpack and he got all excited to carry it.
"No worries, I got it," I said as I went to the car that Fred came with and drove back to my apartment.
"Thanks for the ride," I said as I got out of his car.
"No worries. Remember, tomorrow you will be doing those reports. The captain said that she needs it by the end of the week," he said as I rolled my eyes at him.
"Okay, okay, I will," I said before he drove off and I went inside the house. I took out my keys and unlocked the door. It has been 2 weeks since I was out of the country and was on the epic adventure of my life with a certain someone. I opened the door and walked into the apartment. I turned on the lights and my apartment was the same as I left it.
"Same old, same old," I said as I went to look around the apartment. I went into the laundry room and took out my clothes as it was all covered in blood or mud or any dust that I picked up during my journey. I chuckled as I remembered it before starting the machine and I went to get myself a shower.
