The next couple of days were filled with Harry trying to avoid everyone as their accusing looks made him uncomfortable and on edge. His and Ron's friendship was strained and as much as Cassia hated the aggravating boy, she felt sorry for him as no one was talking to him. All they did was give him dirty looks and accuse him of putting his name in, no matter how many times he said that he didn't.
However, the only person that did talk to Harry was Neville. And since Neville is best friends with Cassia and is nearly always hanging out with her, Harry tagged along as they were all by the Black Lake.
"All" being, Neville, Harry, Cassia, Carla and Samuel. As Neville and Cassia were stood in the water, Carla and Samuel were busy climbing a tree as they were bored. Harry was sat on the floor against the tree and was listening to Cassia giggle fondly as Neville ranted on about the different plants he had pulled up from under the water.
The water was only up to their ankles and Neville murmured to himself as he gazed at the plant he held in his hands.
"Amazing."
Harry, who was reading a book on plants, piped up in irritance.
"Neville, you're doing it again."
Neville frowned and apologized.
"Oh, right. Sorry."
And annoyed because he upset her person, Cassia snapped protectively.
"Oi, Potter. Leave him be. Don't take out your frustration on him, he isn't doing any harm in expressing his thoughts about the things he loves."
Harry falters under the harsh glare he received from his crush, he blushed in embarrassment and apologized, ignoring the snickers above him.
"Sorry, Cass."
Cassia pursed her lips and Harry read out.
"Magical Water Plants of the Highland Lochs?"
Neville stated.
"Moody gave it to me as an apology for that lesson."
He then raised his arm and waved at someone, causing the other four to turn and look to see who he was waving to.
Hermione was speaking to Ron in a hushed tone as they walked towards the others. Harry rolled his eyes and closed his book, getting up as the two stopped. Ron muttered to Hermione and the latter let out a sigh as she walked forwards and announced.
"Ronald would like me to tell you that Seamus told him that Dean was told by Parvati that Hagrid's looking for you."
Harry asks bitterly.
"Is that right? Well, y-"
His eyebrows then furrowed and he asks in confusion.
"What?"
Hermione grimaced and walked back towards Ron. Cassia looked up to see Carla hurriedly trying to get down with wide eyes as Sam was just sat, frozen. She furrowed her eyebrows, but thought nothing of it as Hermione came back.
"Dean was told by Parvati that.. please don't ask me to say it again. Hagrid's looking for you."
She turned around and was about to walk off when Harry replied snarkily.
"Well, you can tell Ronald-"
He's cut off by Hermione snapping in frustration.
"I'm not an owl!"
Cassia blew out a breath as Hermione dragged Ron away, she muttered in amusement.
"Ron's such a wuss. He didn't want to talk to you so he got Hermione to do it. He needs to grow the fuck up."
She let out a laugh and rolled her eyes at Ron's pettiness. She and Neville soon finished their own little Herbology lesson and parted ways as Neville went to the library and Cassia went on a walk around the castle with Carla and Samuel.
As they were walking, Cassia pretended not to notice the other two's tense behaviour as they kept avoiding each other for some reason. Of course she wondered why, but her thoughts were cut off as she heard a commotion going on.
She grabbed their hands and dragged them both over, wanting to see what all the laughing was about. And when they got there, their laughs were soon joining in as Moody was making a white ferret bounce around in the air.
Some of the laughs died down as Professor McGonagall pushed through and gaped at the sight. She asked in shock and bewilderment.
"What are you doing?"
More people were crowding round and Moody replied back.
"Teaching."
McGonagall asked again in realisation.
"Is that a-? Is that a student?"
Cassia felt someone come up beside her and she turned her head and saw Lyra with a wide smile as she too found the sight funny.
Lyra felt someone's stare on her face and looked to see Cassia staring at her in a daze. The platinum blonde smiled cheekily at the redhead and wrapped an arm around her shoulder, pulling her closer. Cassia blushed and looked back to the front as Moody retorted back.
"Technically, it's a ferret."
He then shoved the ferret down Crabbe's trousers and the latter freaked out as he moved around. Goyle tried to help and everyone was laughing loudly. Lyra leaned into Cassia for support as she was hysterically laughing.
The ferret made its way out of the bottom of the trouser leg and McGonagall turned the ferret back into a student. That student being Draco Malfoy, which made the students laugh more as he looked disheveled. Draco backed up and exclaimed in embarrassment.
"My father will hear about this!"
Moody walked forwards and asked sternly as Draco kept backing away.
"Is that a threat? Is that a threat?! I could tell you stories about your father that could curl even your greasy hair, boy! It doesn't end here!"
Draco ran away with his goons following after him and McGonagall scolded the teacher.
"Alastor! We never use transfiguration as a punishment! Surely Dumbledore told you that."
Moody replied like a child getting told off.
"He might have mentioned it."
McGonagall enounced.
"Well, you will do well to remember it."
She then shooed the students away as she walked off. Cassia let out a chuckle and walked away with her friends, not noticing Harry's lingering look at Lyra's arm around his crush.
