Dreaming About You

       "So, Hinata. What do you do for a living?" Naruto asked as most of the walk was in silence and he was trying to spike a conversation. "H-Huh!? W-Why the s-sudden interest?" Hinata questioned as she blushed at his curiosity. "Just wondering. Your a shy and wonderful girl to be around so I was just asking what you do or what your life at home is like" Naruto said as he looked at her with his hands behind his head. Hinata blushed at his description of her personality. W-Well, since y-you're wondering. I train a lot at home, t-trying to be the best s-so I can be th-the next h-heir for the cl-clan.." Hinata said as Naruto just listened, taking in everything.

       "And w-when I'm n-not at home tr-training. I'm tr-training to be th-the next b-best ninja. Like y-you N-Naruto-Kun, y-you're the reason I-I want to become s-stronger.." Hinata finished as she just smiled looking at the ground not daring to look at Naruto. "Your life sounds boring at home" Naruto said nonchalantly making Hinata hold a surprise look making her look at Naruto. "W-What do y-you mean?" Hinata said not grasping what he was saying. "I mean is that all you do at your house is train and work on being the next heir? No fun? No games? I mean you even have a family that you can even fun stuff with.." Naruto replied as he stared at the sky not looking at Hinata. "My family is... c-complicated. T-to say th-the least" Hinata said as she thought about her life at home.

       Now that she thought about it, she can't remember the last time she and her family did something fun together. More or less talk to each other with a smile on everyone's face, "Well when we get back I'll show you some games I made up!" Naruto said with a wide toothy grin and closed eyes making Hinata blush. B-Being a-a-alone... with, NARUTO-KUN!? Hinata thought as she could almost faint. "Oi? Hinata? Your face is red! Are you alright!?" Naruto questioned when he saw her face was all crimson red. "H-Hai... I-I-I'm sp-splendid..." Hinata said as she raised her shoulders as if trying to be a turtle and try to hide within her shell.

"This looks like a good place to rest for tonight" Naruto said with a smile as he set down his bag and letting it rest on a tree stump along with Hinata. "I'll go get firewood to cook our dinner tonight while you set up ok? Just holler if you need any help" Naruto said as he walked away leaving Hinata with the tent. "H-Hai!" Hinata yelled after him as she started to unpack the tent. She was starting to hum a melody to herself with a contempt smile. She soon was swaying her hips back and forth to the melody and was twirling around as well. "Hey, Hinata I-!" Naruto started but stopped when he saw Hinata and heard her voice as she hummed a song. Naruto's cheeks got warm as he thought about how good she was at singing and her movements were so graceful and held a lot of light footwork to it as well.

Naruto realized he had his mouth open slightly and had dropped the stuff for the fire as he was just so amazed by Hinata. She really is a beauty Naruto thought as he soon came to and picks up the sticks with shaky hands. "Hey, Hinata" Naruto said trying not to sound nervous. "EEP!" Hinata squeaked as she fell onto her butt once she heard Naruto's voice. "Oops. Sorry, didn't mean to make you fall. Heh heh" Naruto said nervously as he scratched the back of his head as he walked up to her. "I-It's f-fine" Hinata said as she got up with the help of Naruto's hand.

When she got up and actually got a lot closer than she would have liked and it didn't help she was staring at Naruto's eyes. Both of their minds were yelling at them to create some distance but their hearts were soothing them telling them to just stare and enjoy the moment. If they listened to their hearts for a while before Naruto cleared his throat making them both lose the trance that they were in. They both blushed and move a great distance away from each other. Their hands still had the feeling of the others hands even though they released from each other.

"I-I got the branches for the fire" Naruto said as his head was also somewhat on fire it felt like. "I-I set up th-the tent as w-well" Hinata replied back as her face was a tomato technically. "L-Let's unpack.." Naruto said as he tried to regain his emotions as he walked away to a patch near the tent that had a ring of rocks already around it with twigs and dry leaves a great distance away. Naruto looked back and saw Hinata as she was unpacking bags and taking it all in. She looked at him before they both looked away and stared forward.

It was an akward silence between the two before Naruto decided to break it. "Hey, Hinata? What was that song you were humming earlier?" Naruto questioned as he cocked his head to the side a bit. "O-Oh! W-Well it w-was something m-my mother w-would sing to m-me e-every night before I f-fell asleep. It was s-so calming and very a-angelic like" Hinata said as she smiled looking at Naruto remembering all those nights she had with her mother.

"What was she like?" Naruto asked her and Hinata was taken back by this question. "W-Well she was s-sweet, beautiful, k-kind, and h-her presence was so w-warm" Hinata replied making Naruto look down. He held a small smile thinking on whether if his mother was like that, or if she was the total opposite. "What happened to your mother anyway, Hinata?" Naruto questioned as to why Hinata never talked of her before. Suddenly Hinata held a frown and lowered her head as tears were starting to form. She blinked them back as she started to sob without trying.

She went to look back up but when she did she felt something, no. SomeONE wrap around her in a hug, "You know what. It doesn't matter what happened, I don't care. What I do care is that you have happy memories of her" Naruto said trying to soothe her as he rubbed her back as she hugged him back. She was sobbing into his shoulder knowing that she could cry around him without having him tell her it's ok. "A-A-Arigatou, N-Naruto-Kun" Hinata responded when she looked into his eyes with a bright smile. "The least I could do!" Naruto said with closed eyes and a huge toothy grin.

       Once the two had finished getting ready to sleep they had laid down in their sleeping bags. "Good night, Hinata. Sweet dreams!" Naruto said with a smile as he looked at Hinata who blushed before shyly smiling back. "G-Goodnight, N-Naruto-Kun" Hinata responded back before she turned off the lamp hanging over them. The two turned over and closed their eyes to sleep peacefully. Well, one of them did, the other couldn't seem to have a peaceful slumber no matter what he did. Every time he tried to sleep he had the same nightmare about Hinata dying in his arms or that he would be the one to kill her by his own hands.

       Naruto soon opened his eyes in a hurry and lurched forward as he kept sweating all over himself. He then looked around frantically before he found the person he was looking for. He then tried to reach out for her but stopped midway thinking how stupid it was. But he remembered how she never moved away from his hug but embraced it. So I guess you could say that gave him enough courage to go wake her up. He touched her shoulder and started to shake her, "Hey, Hinata. Hinata, wake up please. I need your help" Naruto explained as he soon woke up the Kunoichi who grudgingly looked over at him with squinted eyes and confusion written all over her face.

       "N-Naruto-Kun, daijoubu?" Hinata questioned as she sat up to look at Naruto's almost frightened look. Hinata blushed in embarrassment and shyly looked away as he had the thought in his mind. "Naruto-Kun?" Hinata asked trying to look into his eyes. "Hinata. C-Could you sing me to sleep? Please?" Naruto asked in embarrassment fiddling with his fingers. Hinata blushed at his request, S-Sing to him!? Calm down Hinata, just calm down... Hinata thought as she tried her hardest to calm down. "A-Ano... U-Um s-sure.." Hinata replied as she gulped and Naruto laid down facing Hinata. Hinata cleared her throat before singing:

Sleep my little one~
Close those eyes and dream~
When you wake all will be well~
For as no monster nor ghost shall haunt your dreams~
So sleep soundly my little one~
Close those eyes and sleep~
For tomorrow shall bring you fortune~

       Hinata stopped singing and once she looked at Naruto he was sound asleep, light snores emitting from his mouth. Hinata smiled brightly and boldly leaned down to plant a kiss on his whiskered cheek which emitted a joyful response from the blonde as he smiled widely and hummed in contempt. Hinata slightly giggled before turning her back to him and closing her eyes as the song she sang played in her mind. It reminded her of her mother when she sang it to her every night before going to sleep.

       "Good night, Mother. Sweet dreams..." Hinata whispered as a tear feel before she fell asleep soundly.
