Hayami didn't move, the rain ran down her face. There it is again, his kindness. She furrowed her brows and looked away. It's all fake, just so he can use our land for growing. Dabi's hand slowly fell, and he moved his gaze to the willow tree, its leaves blowing in the wind. "I want to visit your kingdom" she spoke moving her gaze to the willow tree as well. "I'd be happy for you too" he muttered moving his blue eyes to her face "Wearing a veil is disrespectful in my kingdom" Hayami flinched her shoulders tensing up, and she turned a fierce gaze to the man "No it's not!"

"It is"

"Since when?" she shot back

"Since now." Dabi smiled, leaning his elbow on the wall and his hand holding his chin up "I don't see a problem with it"

"You can't just make rules!"

"I didn't mean a problem with making rules" He quickly cut in "I meant your face" his gaze was now subtly on hers, and she found herself staring at his scar. "You're only saying that because you have to" she muttered her gaze moving away, Dabi looked towards the girl about to detest. Tears rolled down her cheeks. He knew it wasn't rain, her red eyes were pools of sorrow as they avoided his gaze. "Princess" she lifted her veil and he quickly turned his head away, she wiped her eyes, and began to walk back "We should go, the road will be too wet to travel if we waste time"

The group of knights stepped towards the group "Hay- Ugh, I mean highness?" Aki stumbled when he saw her step towards the group. Shoto also noticed the princess's tears, turning his fiery gaze to his older brother watching her from afar. "We should return to the palace, before the roads ruin" Aki sighed, pulling his cape from his armour and placing it over her. Hayami wasn't one to be open about her feelings, growing up with a father who couldn't stand being in a room with her she grew to be independent. So, when she looked down to her wet hands, the hands that so desperately wanted to have grabbed his and danced into the nigt, she didn't know who to ask about this feeling inside her.

"You made a lady cry!" Shoto quickly moved towards his brother hitting him several times, Dabi swatted his hand away, stone faced. His gaze was on the woman, draped in some other man's cape as she tread painfully down the path. "Why do people cry?" Dabi muttered, his gaze moving to his brother. His eyes widened as he stared up at his brother, he sighed and moved his gaze to the princess "If you hurt their feelings, now come on" The two began to walk, Dabi still lost in thought "She said I was only saying she was beautiful because I had to"

"What did you say?" Shoto questioned, now holding his hands over his head, as a makeshift umbrella, Dabi stared at his secret brother "God they have some weird rituals here, I'm drenched to the bone" He complained.

A bedroom door swung open, and a maid came running in. "Hayami! You in their?" The bed was all in a pile, cushions built up in a tower. Hiding the princess deep inside, the girl sighed "I'm coming in" She lifted her skirts as she began to crawl under the pillows. Hayami laid cuddled into herself, tears flowing down her cheeks, glistening softly. "Oh, Hayami" She whispered, moving to cuddle the girl she snuggled back. "Tira this is wretched" She muttered, and she stroked her hair, still wet from the rain. "What happened? If he spoke about your beautiful face, I'll bury him alive" She grumbled. Hayami sniffed raggedly and let out a deep huff

"He did" She muttered, Tira shot up, pillows flying all around her, her eyes filled with nothing but rage "I'm going to kill him!" Hayami grabbed her bringing her back down so that they were cuddling again "He called me pretty" Tira paused her angry rant and turned slowly to the girl next to her. Confusion evident on her face, "He even said I looked like the willow tree maiden" Tira looked up at her friend. "I'm a little lost"

"I don't know either" She muttered, clutching her hands to her heart "He's so kind, and he's only doing it so our kingdoms can both benefit" Tira sighed and hugged her friend closely "You don't know what he's thinking, Haya, he might be head over heels for you but your keeping your distance from him, only because you think of him that way" Tira began to run her fingers through her friends fluffy tangled hair. "In fairy tales the princess always marries someone she loves, my father's forcing this against me"

"But how do you know this isn't the man you're in love with" Tira spoke, Hayami quickly moved her gaze from her grip to stare at her friend. She had such a mature and caring look on her face, it shocked her "You're getting sad because you don't think anyone can love you" Hayami shook her head

"N-no because he's being so kind to me"

"Everyone's kind to you and they may not mean it" Tira rolled onto her back "Do you remember that noble? Who wanted you to stop constructing the orphanage, so he was kind to you" Hayami nodded her head "Did you cry like this?"

"No"

"Or what about the times when the fabric man was showing you fabrics that brought out your eyes, he was only being nice, so you'd buy some of his fabric, did you cry and build a pillow fort then?" Hayami shook her head cuddling into a pillow in front of her. "Then why does it matter so much that he's being fake kind to you?"

"Because I think I love him" Hayami whispered

"What was that?"

"Because I'm in love with him" She spoke a bit louder

"I can't hear you"

"I said, because I'm in love with him!" Hayami shouted, sitting up from her pillow fort, throwing more pillows around the room. "I'm in love with him so that's why I cry when he's fake kind to me" Tira smiled, and suddenly hugged the princess. Bringing her back down to the bed "She's in love~" She hummed "Hayami's in love~"

A hand had stilled quite a while ago, wanting to knock on the door to make sure the princess was alright. The boys long ginger hair was out of his usual ponytail, his hand fell away from the door. A figure watched from a little away down the corridor, he had wanted to check on her too after the events of the rain. His gaze was locked on the guard and his reaction to the words, a fire building inside his chest at the sight of the sadness on his face. However, the King had heard enough from Hayami's careless shouting, so he turned on his heel. His thoughts on her guard's pained reaction, to such sweet words.

"Brother?" A sweet voice hummed, stepping towards the guard paused outside of the door. Laughter could be heard, and Aki turned his gaze down to the maid stood beside him, he was barely holding it back. "Brother! Are you ok?"

"R-Rika" He shuddered from his composure.

In a dark, fully wooden room, Rika sat on the bed handing her twin a cup of hot tea. "So, she shouted that she was in love with the king?" He nodded his head, and ran his hand across his face, up into his hair "I was so stupid, I had to fall for the princess" She patted her brother's shoulder. Taking a sip of her tea, a smug look on her face "I don't want to say it"

"I know, you were right" Rika fell back to lie down, her gaze staring up at the shield hanging on her brother's wall "Maybe I wasn't" She muttered. Sitting up "She's not in love with him, it's only been 2 days, she's just delusional because he must be flirting with her for the land."

"She shouted it out loud" Aki mumbled bringing the hot drink up to his lips, Rika nodded and held her brother's shoulders. "She's a princess, they have to follow what their parents tell them" Aki shrugged his shoulders "So if her dad told her that she needs to fall in love and marry King Dabi, she would convince herself to" Aki paused drinking the tea. His gaze turned to his sister, his eyes wide full of hope. "Everything's all messed up since the king came to the castle" she grumbled "The king has got me running his errands for mother, so she can care for Dabi" Rika complained "If only that king would just disappear"
