"Dabi" She whined into a pillow, he looked towards her. Clenching his jaw, he stared down at her, she had a pillow hugged tightly to her, and her eyes stared pleadingly up at him. Her mouth and nose concealed behind the pillow. "Or is it you just like me" he leaned into her gauging her reaction, she just watched. Pulling the pillow down from her face, he stared down at her lips they parted slightly as he drew into her more. She closed her eyes, surprised when she felt a soft peck on her cheek. Opening her eyes, she searched Dabi's "Maybe you like touching me" Hayami muttered, the man shrugged turning away

"I would say it's what lovers would do, but I think we're past that lie now" Hayami gasped, and he continued to look forward. "But you want to know what's truly improper" Hayami's eyes widened in curiosity, a gaze Dabi grew quite fond of, "Having a man in your bed, late at night" Hayami sat up

"You invited yourself!"

"You were staring at me through the curtain when I was trying to sleep" he quickly shot back "How am I meant to sleep when theirs a woman staring at me in the other room" he teased "And then when I try to help her sleep, she stares at me as if she wants to be up all night" Hayami's eyes widened, and she quickly rolled over. Dabi finally smiled as he watched the woman beside him, "It's your fault, you could've told me to stop staring I would've"

"What if I didn't want you to stop staring" His voice was lower, and his breath ghosted her ear. She rolled over; her cheeks dusted in pink from the closeness of their faces. The two stared at each other, not saying a word for what seemed like eternity, their breath mingling. "Well then" Dabi slid off the bed "I think that's enough of a warning" Hayami's eyes widened. For some reason she missed the way the bed dipped when he lay next to her. She missed the warmth that she could almost feel radiating off him. "W-wait!" She cried out, he stopped clenching his jaw, "We still don't know anything about each other" the man turned to look at the woman holding his arm. "I'll tell you one thing about me, I can only take so much of you before I take you all" he explained "It's shameful I know, but you bring it upon yourself" Hayami's eyes widened at his words. "Maybe I am the monster that you thought I was, but you're my sweet treat, tempting me" He opened his curtain. Not saying another word before stepping into his room. Hayami's cheeks were flushed from the implications behind those words, quickly she pulled herself under her covers concealing her and her thoughts from the world.

The next day had dawned, Dabi was back in his study "You'll accompany Hayami back home" Shoto flinched at his brother's words

"I beg your pardon!"

"I would go, but I can't leave my country for such a long time, especially with father plotting, so you're my next bet to making sure Hayami is safe" the boy sighed and nodded his head. Suddenly a knock was heard at the door, "Come in" Hayami opened the door slowly, her gaze harsh when she stared at the king but sweet and gentle when she looked towards Shoto. "Dearest fiancé, I've come to question the dress you've left in my room" her voice cracked with anger, and Dabi rested his head on his hand looking down at the papers still "It's a dress to wear at the ball tonight, my kingdom is far too dirty for your pretty dresses" Hayami stepped towards the desk "That's not the problem, Dabi, how much did that cost you!" She squealed "It's beautiful, but that can't be for me, it looks too"

"Too?"

"To good" Dabi looked up at her finally, before his gaze moved down to her feet, then back up to her face "You look too good, I don't see the problem" he spoke matter of factly, causing the woman to blush. Shoto sighed from the side of the room "It's normal for lovers to give each other gifts, princess he's showing you love"

"There's a difference between love and spending all your money on me" she spoke, her voice trying to mask her rage. "It's a nice gesture but I can't" She paused her gaze falling to the picture resting behind Dabi. The man in its gaze, caused her to tremble slightly. Dabi looked up at her, confused as to why she stopped then moved his gaze over his shoulder "That's my father" he sighed, Hayami's eyes flicked between every detail on the painting. "He looks terrifying" Shoto bit his lip trying to hold in his laughter, Dabi shrugged nodding his head to agree "I'll change it then" Hayami's gaze flicked down, she shook her head holding her hands out in front of her to detest to his words "No! That's your father! You can't change it because I said so"

"I hate my father" He quickly cut in, his gaze resting on his papers, Hayami huffed out a long breath "Me too" She chuckled and Dabi quickly looked up at her. Her gaze was on the picture "Did you get your hair from your mother then?" she questioned "I mean Shoto looks the most related to your father" Shoto's gaze shot around the room, like a guilty puppy. "It's not natural" Dabi quickly answered, her eyes widened "Your hair isn't naturally" She paused, and he nodded. "My hair is naturally white, but I don't want to look anything like my father or my mother" Hayami nodded her head, looking down at his jet-black hair. Silence fell upon the room, before Shoto decided to break it. "Why don't we hang a couple painting" he suggested, his eyes were closed to avoid the sharp gaze Dabi was giving him "You and your future wife would be a nice painting to hang up their" Hayami quickly looked towards Shoto, for some reason her heart sprung at that idea in glee, swallowing down that feeling she looked to dabi, his gaze was searching hers. "Maybe" He shrugged, Hayami flinched and then turned her gaze away outside the window.

"Any other, nice deeds I've done for you, that you want to complain about?" Hayami quickly looked down at the man, and sighed "Your unbelievable" she grumbled turning to leave. "You love it" he quickly shot back, Hayami looked over her shoulder at him, her mouth open to detest but no words could leave her lips. She turned and left the room, almost slamming the door behind her. "She's a strange woman" Shoto muttered "Surely, you'd be happy that a man is spending all this money on you" Dabi looked towards the door

"What do we know about the King of Saku?" Dabi muttered, Shoto moved his gaze to him "I'll see what information I can find"

"If we don't have a lot, pay that dealer some money to find more out about him" he nodded his head, and left the room. Dabi moved his gaze back down to the documents on his desk, he wasn't reading them he was thinking about how Hayami's eyes looked when she said she hated her father.

Finally, it was the night of the ball, the ball to introduce Hayami to the nobles, Dabi sat at his throne watching the ballroom. Music played quietly as everyone was just conversing at this point. "Princess of the Kingdom Saku!" Dabi's gaze finally lifted, and all the attention moved to the ballroom doors, "Hayami, Evergreen!" the doors opened, and she stepped in. Dabi sat up in his seat, his eyes widening as he stared upon her. The dress was a black long trumpet dress with a slit down one of the legs, her grey hem rested on her shoulders and followed cutting the dress to be low cut, black mesh supposedly covering her decency though it was still on show. She wore a black veil, custom maid for her, with jewels resting across her head, and her fluffy hair was tucked up almost making it look like it was cut shorter. Although her colour of dress was basic, she was all everyone could stare at. She stepped into the room smiling and bowing at the guests who could work up the courage to greet her.

Dabi rose as she moved to walk towards him, holding out his hand she took it and curtseyed as he bowed. "I don't look bad, do I?" She questioned in a whisper as the music began to play again, he shook his head "I think you might actually suit black" she nudged his shoulder playfully before taking a seat. Shoto smiled and chuckled to himself as he side eyed the woman. Fuyumi stepped towards the pair, holding a tray of drinks, looking up at Hayami, she pulled a face to say 'you look amazing' before leaving them and serving drinks to other guests.
