"SHE WHAT?!?" he yelled. Lily was well aware considering informing Mark that would be a grave mistake. Before Mark could react, a bright light flashed in Lily's face, uncovering five coins. "Oh my, so they are coins?" she said. Lily glanced at them, and she was so drawn to them that she reached out to grasp them, only to be zapped. "Yikes! What the hell!" Lily took her hand right away. "You have received your first payment, competitors. You will earn 5 coins each time you pass a test. To jog your memory, you will be able to chat to your parents for 15 coins, and you will be able to go back home for 50 coins, if you don't die before that is. After an orientation, your next test will commence tomorrow evening. Reap the benefits of your stay." concluded the announcement. "We still have so many tests before we will be able to talk to our paren- Mark? MARK?!" Lily leapt from her seat, only to discover Mark had vanished. 'I have to inform Kat!'
Kat was putting Cassandra to bed next door, and Lily dashed over. "Shush! She had just slept off " He spoke in hushed tones. Lily nodded and motioned for him to exit the room for a brief moment."What's the matter-" "MARK HAS LEFT!" "What-where?" "I don't know, he suddenly vanished into thin air when I had my coins!" "He couldn't have gotten too far; I'll catch up with him, bye-" "Wait!" Lily dashed into Mark's room, grabbing a coat and scarf for Kat. "It's freezing at night- and um- just take this and go look for him-!" Lily handed up the clothes while hiding her hot cheeks. "Thanks! Bye! I'll need a few minutes." Kat donned the outfit and set out in search of Mark.
'I refuse to believe she doesn't care about me. Ahh, Kat, concentrate! Where would that moron be?' "Mark! Mark! Mark?! Ugh, I thought there was a bridge here somewhere; I'll look for it " Kat exclaimed as he dashed towards the bridge. He sighed as he noticed a shadow in the distance. "Mark! Thank God you're still alive. Why did you do that?"
"Do I appear miserable to you?"
"Huh?"
"Do I strike you as pitiful? Is that why you became acquainted with me?"
"What-no!" exclaims Kat.
"You guys pity me, I knew it. Because I appeared unhelped, Cassandra used her wish to save me. SHE'S AN IDIOT FOR REFUSING TO LET ME DI-""Mark Davies, keep your mouth shut. Making fun of your friends, especially Cass, isn't going to help. She came to your rescue!"
"She had the option of letting me be-"
"She is your friend who is concerned about you. Because you stood out, we became friends with you. You appeared to us as a cheerful and upbeat companion."
"B-but-"
"Now, there will be no ifs or buts." Kat then proceeded to smack his forehead.
"Ouch!"
"You're also ignorant to her feelings," he continues.
"Huh?"
"Nothing to see here, let's go back. The girls were concerned. You should also thank Cass; she'd be grateful, and don't ever, I repeat, never, misunderstand our relationship, okay?"
"Ok, I- I won't!"The girls' room was open when Mark and Kat returned to the lodge. Before entering, they peeked about to hear what was going on, like any reasonable person would.
"Are you awake?" Lily inquired as she sat on their bed.
"Did Mark wake up? How is he doing?"
"Y-eah"
"Wow, that's fantastic! Is it okay if I go check on him?"
"NO! He might be weak, so let him get better first,"
"It doesn't matter to me; I'm leaving!" Cassandra walked out of the room later being stopped by Lily.
"You won't be able to!"
"Why?!"
"He isn't here! Oop-"
"WHAT? Isn't Mark supposed to be here? Where did he go-?"
"Now, no more sobbing drama. Kat has gone in search of him and will return with Mark."
"What if he doesn't?" Cassandra began to cry and tear up as she said this, and Lily sat by her side to console her. Mark's heart was tearing into two deep within him, so he rushed into the room.
"I'm back!" He exclaimed.
"MARK!"Cassandra leapt into his arms, as if she hadn't seen him in years.
"Cass! I'm still hurt you know--!" Mark remarked.
"Sorry! But, why did you leave so abruptly?" He was questioned by her.
Lily nodded, "I had the same question."
"Well, uh-"
As he walked into the room, Kat said, "Just for a stroll!"
"Oh, I see," Cass said,
"Haha, never mind me, let us have a good night sleep before that moron Vanberg calls us again." Mark said as everyone laughed.
