"You never told me where the bruise came from," Felix speaks over the phone.
It had been a few days, Minho being extra careful around us. If we got up to get something, he'd jump up to get it for us.
"It was an accident, it's okay."
"What was an accident?"
I sigh, looking at the grass below my feet. I was sitting alone at the park, needing some air. The apartment was beginning to get stuffy because of everything going on. College definitely didn't help it either.
"Chan kept trying to tell Minho to calm down when he was yelling at me, but that pissed him off more. Minho got in Chan's face and they started fighting... physically. I tried to stop them, and I got in the way. I-it was an accident, I promise you. He didn't mean to. He's been beating himself up since it happened."
"Oh gosh, Jisungie. You should talk to him. Again, I mean. Let him know that it wasn't okay, but it didn't hurt you mentally. That's what's important."
"I should. Thanks. I didn't really know how to go about it when it happened. I told him it was okay, and that it was my fault."
"How was it your fault?"
My ears burn. "Because I provoked him. I don't understand demons. I tried addressing it as if I did and not like a-"
I stop, tensing up. I hear a few clicks when a man passes by me. I pull my beanie farther down, lowering my head.
"Jisung? Hello?"
"I gotta go."
"Jisung-"
I hang up, standing suddenly. I need to get out of here. As I land on the sidewalk, I can hear quiet footsteps behind me.
Unlocking my phone, I send a quick text to Chan.
'He's following me.'
He responds immediately, telling me that he'd pick up Hyunjin and come get me. It'll take too long for him to get here. I can't wait that long. Do I go somewhere secluded? No people around? Or somewhere with everyone around? We've already uncovered his plan to expose us in front of people, but my pups aren't with me.
You're already going that way. Head to Seungmin's work. The cafe. People will be there. You can escape.
I nod to myself, sticking my hands in my sweatshirt pockets. It'll be fine. He'll leave me alone for now.
Relax, Jisung. You look like you're trying to escape, like you know what's going on. We can't let him know.
I force my shoulders down, slowing my speed walk. Deep breaths. Someone then pushes me into an alley, knocking me to the ground.
"Ah- what the fuck? What are fuck are you doing?" I shout, preparing myself for the worst.
The man takes his hood off, revealing his face. He smiles politely, bowing. "You're Han Jisung, aren't you?"
I frown. "Who's asking?"
"I'll take that as a yes."
"What do you want? I don't have money."
"I want you to tell me about your lovers, or boyfriends. Do you know what they are?"
"Listen man, I don't know what the fuck you're on, but leave me alone."
He walks forward, towering over me. His hands are stuck in his pockets. His shoulders are relaxed. He tilts his head, grinning.
"Ah, so you do know, huh? I've seen your marks. Filthy. I'm surprised you're not dead. You should be. Their venom kills, especially if there are two. So how? How are you alive? They turned you. Sounds ridiculous. They're not vampires, yet they are. Vampires born from the devil. Demons. Not only demons, hellhounds. So how did you find two who'd stay with you? Maybe they'll be your companions for a few months and then split your soul. That's what they do. Those monsters... ruthless. Absolutely ruthless."
