The Twentyfourth Chapter

Third person POV

Habang tulog si Antoniel ay abala naman si Gracia sa pagluluto para dito. Hindi pa din umuwi ang mommy at kapatid niya dahil inaayos pa ang insurance na makukuha sa pagkasunog ng bahay.

She was too focused on the food she was cooking when Antoniel embrace her from the back. "Hi, I suddenly felt hungry."

"Bitaw ka muna. I'll prepare it."

Tumunog ang doorbell sa unit niya. "Pakitingnan muna sir ang niluluto ko." Iniwan niya ito at diretso sa pinto agad. Binuksan niya ito. Isang delivery boy ang may dalang box. It's from a cake shop. Ito ang inorder niya. She paid for it already. Pagtapos kunin ito ay bumalik siya sa kitchen.

"It's almost cook ma'am. What's that box?"

"Later nalang. You will know it."

"Okay. I'll prepare the utensils. Oo nga pala, ma'am, how was your check up? May sakit ka ba,"kinakausap siya nito habang tinitingnan ang nilutong beef Caldereta.

"Wala Naman. I'm just experiencing nausea. Nothing serious."

"That's good to hear."

"It's ready to eat." Nilagay niya ito sa mangkok at kinuha ang fruit salad sa ref. At may nilagay din siyang kanin.

Pinaupo niya ang binata. Dahan-dahan binuksan ang cake box. Nakalagay dito "CONGRATULATIONS DADDY!"

Hindi ito nakita ni Antoniel dahil nakaupo siya. Naglagay siya ng candle sa gitna at sinindihan ito. "What's that? Its not my birthday dahil next year pa yun."

"Not your birthday but you will celebrate it."

"I'm excited and confused at the same time."

Nagdasal muna sila and she start her speech.

"Sir, I have something to tell you. So, please don't interrupt. First, I wanna thank you again for coming to my life. If I were to go back again that day I will surely let it happen. It's my most embarrassing moment but I do realize no matter how ugly your first meeting, it's the feeling that is important. We have so many hindrances coming our way but here we are making this relationship works. Sir, your my savior in your little ways. I love you so much. I wanna, congratulate for job will done. You give me a bundle of joy that I will treasure everyday."

"Your making a speech! But damn! Its, I don't what to say. I love you too. What do you mean a bundle of joy? I'm confused."

"I'm going to be a........mom and I know you are......the dad,"nakangiting sabi nito sa kaharap. Nakaawang ang bibig nito.

"What?!!! Is this true?!"

Natatawa pa ito pero parang gustong tumalon sa saya. "It's true. Akala mo sa akin sinungaling."

"It's not that. I'm just happy and I can't put it into words. Thank you so much ma'am."

Lumapit ito sa likuran at niyakap siya.

"You make me complete again."

"Go back to your position officer dahil kailangan mo magwish at  iblow ang candle."

Sinunod ito agad ng binata at ipinkit ang mata para magwish at pagdilat hinipan agad nito ang kandila.

"What did you wish?"

"Secret."

"Hay, dami mo talagang alam. Anyway, aside from that  I have something to tell you."

"That's so many surprises."

Hindi muna nagsalita ang dalaga kaya nagtaka ito. "What is it?"

"Promise, you'll not get angry. I know I don't have the right to do it but I think it's the best."

"What do you mean? It's more confusing."

"Nag-uusap na kami ng Mommy mo sa loob ng isang buwan.  "

"What?!! Are you kidding me?! You li---," pinutol niya ang sasabihin nito.

"I know, your not prepared. I wanted you, us, to complete our family right?"

Tumayo ito sa pagkakaupo at napasuklay sa buhok ang binata. Nalilito na siya sa nangyayari. Ayaw niyang magalit rito pero pinapangunahan nito ang kanyang desisyon pagdating sa ina.

"Are we not complete ma'am? Bakit kailangan mo magdesisyon agad nang hindi ko alam. Don't you trust me?"

"It's not that I don't trust you. I wanted you to forgive her, for our future baby. I know she has reasons for doing it."

"Reasons?! A selfish reason she has in her mind that she don't want responsibilities. All she want was luxury."

"I'm sorry sir. I shouldn't have made a decision alone. Akala ko kasi, ito yung tama pero I was wrong."

"I have to go out. I'll be back." Rinig niya ang pagsarado ng pinto. Doon na siya napaiyak. It's all her fault. She ruined everything.

In the first place, she need to consult him but she keep it herself. Ayaw man niya maging emotional pero hindi maiwasan. Nakarinig siya ng katok. Tumayo siya, pinagbuksan ito. Akala niya si Antoniel pero ibang tao pala ito. It's Monika.

"Hey, mind if I enter?"

She let her in and tell her to sit down. "You want anything? Juice,coffee or tea?" Umiling ito.

"I'm just here to check on you. Toni called me to watch over you. Is there something wrong? You have this look on your face, saying your not okay."

"It was my fault. Hindi ko na dapat pinapangunahan ang mga desisyon niya. Nakipag-usap ako sa mama niya nang hindi niya alam. I'm so selfish Monika. I didn't understand his feelings first."

"How that happens? Paano ka niya nakausap?"

"Someone added me on my social media account. She didn't use her name. It's a fake account. But, she, told me, if we can video call. I was too hesitant first. Napansin niya yata yun kaya nagsend siya ng ilang pictures. She introduced herself as Antoniel's Mom. I still didn't believe her, so she send some of their old photos as family. That's why I give in. I agree to make video calls."

"Then? After that."

"We talk a lot of things. She even know my pregnancy."

"I can see in her eyes that she was sorry for what happen. For leaving toni behind. Gusto niyang makausap si Toni kaya ibingay ko and numero niya."

"I understand your point. But knowing Toni, he didn't easily forgive."

"Alam ko yun pero hindi naman dapat hàbangbuhay siyang magalit."

Napahilot sa sintido si Monika. Kahit siya matagal din nito pinatawad. The painful things that happen to him, making it hard to forgive. Pero tama si Gracia ayun pa sa isip niya dahil mahirap magtanim ng galit sa tao.

"Monika, may iba ka pang sadyang?"

"Yeah, your right."

"What is it?"

"Amore was already dead. Kanina lang."

She was shock on this sudden event. Galit siya sa babae pero ayaw niyang ihiling na mamatay ito. It's too much.

"She died because she didn't surrender herself to the police. Papatayin niya sana si Toni but, other policeman, shot her."

"Sorry for that. My condolences. I don't know what to say."

"It's fine. In behalf of her, I ask forgiveness again."

Hindi niya ito sinagot bagkus yakap ang binigay niya dito. She knows the feeling of losing someone. Bumitaw na sila sa isa't-isa. "Thank you so much Gracia. I know for sure he'll understand why you do that. For now, rest please." Tumunog ang tyan niya.

"You need to eat too. Dami mo palang inihanda. Let's eat because I'm hungry"

Iginiya niya ito sa mesa at umupo na din ito. They start eating and talking a lot of things. Gracia only wish is to make their life happy and feeling of being complete.
