Raya woke up feeling the Sun's rays on her face. She yawned as she stretched. It was a few months after bringing back Kumandra and things seemed so perfect. After the lands all came together to celebrate unity, they returned to their respective sections of Kumandra. Not running for their lives, but at peace, knowing the Druun were all gone and everyone was living in harmony. All it took was realizing the importance of trust. For Raya though, things were so much more complicated. Even though she was beyond happy that her Ba was back and everything was restored, she still felt hesitant about Namaari. Yes she certainly did the right thing by sacrificing herself and believing that trust was the solution to bring everyone back, but how sincere was she? Was it just a matter of hopelessness and seeing trust as a last resort? Or did she genuinely care about all 5 lands becoming one again?
Thoughts paced through Raya's mind so much that she didn't even realize how long she was just sitting on her bed, gazing into space.
*Knock knock*
"Raya? You up?" Said the familiar voice from the other side of the door. It was her Ba.
Raya snapped from her thoughts and went to open her door.
"Good morning Ba." She said as she went into his embrace for a soothing hug. All mornings in Heart have been like this since Kumandra's restoration.
"Good morning dewdrop, how are you?"
"I'm okay Ba." replied Raya.
Chief Benja knew she wasn't. Actions speak louder than words and Raya looked confused, contradicting her response.
"Something is bothering you Raya, what is it? If you don't mind me asking..."
Raya took a deep breath and said, "Can we talk about it after breakfast, Ba?"
Chief Benja smiled and said, "Sure dewdrop. Come to breakfast when you are ready."
"I will, thank you."
Chief Benja smiled and then departed from Raya's room. Raya went to her closet to decide on her outfit for the day. She was still in shock that the servants practically restored everything in a very short time. She was in fact the princess but overtime, she even forgot that she's the future ruler of an entire kingdom. Her aim was just her Ba, nothing more.
Raya eyed an outfit similar to what she wore the first time she met Namaari. Everything was just so nostalgic but she remembered the painful fact that it was because she trusted Namaari that the world broke. But then again, it's because she trusted Namaari with her life that Kumandra was restored. She took a deep breath and chose the outfit next to it. An aquamarine top with brown pants, similar to what she'd usually wear around the palace. She took a shower and brushed through her wavy hair then went for breakfast.
The servants were delighted to see her and Chief Benja was engaged in a conversation with one of the servants, Dalia. Both were also delighted to see the princess and Raya smiled and said, "Good morning."
"Good morning your majesty, how are you feeling?" asked Dalia.
"I'm okay, thank you."
Raya chose to sit at a lonely chair at the end of the table. She barely ate or focused. Her mind was so fixated on and clouded by thoughts about Namaari. It might seem as something trivial to anyone else but for her, it was a big deal. Afterwards, Chief Benja got up and went to her and said, "Ready dewdrop"?"
"Yes Ba." replied Raya with a smile.
The father and daughter headed to the palace's garden and then Chief Benja began talking, "So, what has been bothering my dewdrop so much lately?"
"Well Ba...I just feel so confused."
"About what?"
"Namaari. I just don't know if she really changed. Yes we all fixed the world but what about now?"
"Did you have any interactions with her during... 'that time'?"
"Quite a bit actually, and she's broken my trust when I did for all those times, except for when we had to fix the world." explained Raya.
"Dewdrop, I know how bothered you're feeling. But you know that she is under the ruling of her mother. Don't you want to talk to her about all that happened? Because when you both met, I definitely saw a true friendship." said Benja.
"I'm not sure if I want to. Most of when we talked, it was in a fight."
"But that's all over now. I'm sure she wouldn't mind if you two had some time to talk with each other, it's never too late to repair a broken friendship."
Raya sighed and thought for a while before agreeing.
"Okay Ba."
Chief Benja smiled at her and said, "Wonderful. I can send an invitation to Fang right away."
"But Ba...I...I don't know how to even start to talk to her on this level. It just seems so...hard" Said Raya.
"Don't worry. I know it is but when you and her finally face each other, I'm sure the words will come. Just don't overthink it." Replied the Chief.
"I'll try." Said Raya.
"Wonderful. I'll head back to the palace to get the message written." said the Chief.
"I'll stay out here for a while."
"Okay dewdrop."
Chief Benja went back inside the palace. Raya stopped at a Hibiscus plant and gently moved her fingers across the petals as she got lost in thoughts about Namaari again. She immediately snapped back to reality when there was a sudden shadow over her. She looked up and realized that it was Sisu. She smiled as she admired her furry friend.
"Raya!" Greeted Sisu happily as she flew down to meet the princess.
Raya ran into her warm embrace and said, "Hey Sisu! How are you doing?"
"I'm fabulous! What about you?"
"Well...I'm okay but um. I've just been thinking about...someone."
Sisu's smile morphed to a look of confusion and said, "Did someone do something to you?"
"No. I'm just not really sure about Namaari." replied Raya.
Sisu seemed shocked and she said, "What do you mean?"
"I just don't feel like I fully trust her considering all that happened."
"Why not? Raya, if she wasn't sincere, we wouldn't have came back. It isn't about just sacrificing herself, it's the trust and faith from her heart. If it was not there, the gem wouldn't have been restored to destroy the Druun. Trust isn't a mere physical action, it's a desire from the heart" explained Sisu.
Now that Sisu said that, Raya thought more about everything and said, "That's true. Ba said he'd invite her here...so that we can...talk."
"That's wonderful! You both will slowly come to be attached to each other."
The thought of being that close to Namaari wasn't something she could easily imagine. She's been through way too much trauma.
She nervously laughed and said, "We'll see."
