Things have been quiet in Heart and Raya has grown accepting of Dalia. Both Dalia and her Ba would check on her now and then and most of all, Raya maintained a positive mindset. She just terribly missed Namaari and couldn't wait to see her. It was now a day before she would depart Heart to go to Fang. At breakfast, she noticed that Dalia was absent. She was really concerned because it is unlike Dalia to be absent this frequently. Afterwards, she went to her Ba's room and gently knocked on the door. Chief Benja went to open it and said softly, "Hey dewdrop."
"Hey Ba...I'm just concerned...what's been happening to Dalia?"
"Oh uh...she'll get better soon. It's nothing really serious." replied the Chief.
Raya raised a brow and said, "Okay Ba."
"Yeah, she's currently resting. Thank you for caring so much dewdrop. And also, I know you might be a little anxious to go to Fang, would you like to leave from today so you have a little more time with the royal family."
Raya blushed as she thought about Namaari and said, "Yeah, I mean...that'd be lovely."
"Wonderful." replied the Chief, "You can begin to get ready to go and as soon as you are, I'll have two servants accompanying you."
"I'll be fine, Ba." replied Raya.
Chief Benja nodded no and said, "It doesn't matter how skilled you are or how non existent threats are, dewdrop. I still want to ensure my little girl is safe out there."
Raya smiled and said, "Okay Ba."
Raya went to get her stuff packed but she got pretty anxious. She felt the need to truly confess her feelings to Namaari. Normal friends don't just...feel this deep emotional feeling to each other...do they? Raya assumed that maybe they do. Aside from Namaari, she's never had a friend of a similar age when she was younger. The only other persons she felt a connection with were Sisu and her friends from the other lands that helped to saved the world but she didn't feel an ounce of attraction. In the midst of her thoughts and packing to depart her home, she heard someone knocking on her door. She opened it and it was Rachel. Rachel looked irritated and said, "Hello Princess...you father asked me to assist with helping you pack."
Raya most definitely didn't want to talk to her and she said, "Thank you but I'm handling this quite fine."
"Good." replied Rachel before walking away. As her distance increased from Raya's room, she mumbled, "Always acting like she's above me just because she's a princess. She has no relevance."
What she said didn't go unheard though. One of the loyal servants, Vince, heard everything she said. He immediately sought Chief Benja.
"Chief, I need to let you know something."
"What's wrong Vince? Is there trouble?"
"There could be...One servant, Rachel has been saying some awful things about Raya. Just now she was talking about the princess having no relevance as a few days ago I overheard her saying some hateful words." explained Vince.
The Chief's eyebrows narrowed. He certainly believed what Vince said because of the incident several days prior with Namaari. "Such a person cannot serve in the palace. A hateful servant is considered a threat since they have immediate access to almost anything. Thank you for letting me know about this imperative information. With a heavy heart, I'll just have to relieve her of royal duties."
"Okay your highness." replied Vince.
Chief Benja asked another servant to summon Rachel as well as Raya. Chief Benja was a person that rarely sat on his throne and only did so when there is something serious that concerned the palace. When Raya arrived, she stood by her father. She was confused as to why everything was happening and she said, "Ba, what's going on?"
"I have to relieve someone of duties, dewdrop."
"And...who's that?"
At that same moment, Rachel walked into the room. She looked a little shocked and she bowed to the royal family. She felt so guilty and couldn't even make eye contact with either of her superiors.
"Rachel..." said Chief Benja in a formal yet soothing voice.
"Yes your majesty..." Said Rachel, still avoiding eye contact.
"I'm sure you know why I've asked to see you in this setting." said the Chief.
There was no reply from Rachel and one of the nearby guards said aggressively, "Speak to the Chief when he addresses you and keep your head up!"
Benja nodded slightly at the guard as a signal that he doesn't need to address Rachel. Raya on the other hand actually felt just the slightest remorse for Rachel. There have only been about two times when a servant was fired like this.
Chief Benja got up and went closer to her and said, "Rachel, you have been saying some horrible things about my daughter. And with reports from other servants that have overheard you saying such things, you are considered a threat. We cannot have someone like that serving in the palace. I hoped to never have to do this but... I relieve you of all palace duties. Guards will help you get packed and escort you home to your family."
Rachel only sighed and walked away. Raya went beside her father and said, "I wish this didn't have to be the outcome...But...it is what it is."
"Indeed dewdrop, and I don't want anyone being a nuisance to you. You're my precious gem and I'll always ensure you're safe. I love you."
"I love you too Ba." replied Raya.
The two shared a hug then Benja said, "Oh, how's your packing to go to Fang?"
"Oh um...I'm alright. Just a few more things to pack then I'll shower and be on my way." replied Raya.
"Wonderful. I really hope that you'll enjoy the time you have there."
"Thank you Ba, I know I will."
"Awesome!"
Raya left to her room and finished packing then she went to take a shower. While she was getting ready, there was a knock on her door. She went to open it and it was Dalia. She immediately hugged her and said, "I'm so happy you are doing better."
"Thank you so much Raya dear." replied Dalia, embracing Raya.
"But what have made you so ill recently?"
Dalia instantly got nervous and she said, "I uh- It's just something that happens...But um...I have a surprise for you. It awaits you in Fang."
Raya was anxious since she overheard a part of her conversation with Chief Benja but was also confused and she said, "I don't understand, a gift?"
"Yup, it will be tangible." replied Dalia.
"Well alright, in that case, I can't wait to go to Fang." said Raya.
Dalia chuckled and said, "Alright, let me help you look absolutely beautiful. I have the perfect hairstyle in mind."
"Okay thank you." replied Raya.
"Of course sweetie."
