Soobin's apartment was silent, since he was studying with earphones in. His roommate, and best friend, Seokhwa, was back from his shift at his father's convenience store and was sound asleep on the opposite side of the room since he was so tired. Soobin received a weekly allowance from his mother, so he had no need to find a job because his father paid his tuition.

Soobin sighed heavily as he closed his textbook, stretching his arms above his head. He prepared to get ready for bed, but he felt something strange. He frowned, standing up from his desk and looked out the door into the darkened corridor. He felt a chill go up his spine as he walked into the dark, looking around as he tried to put the light on.

"Ah, pretty boy — you're awake."

Soobin flinched, turning around quickly and meeting eyes with the god that had decided to ruin his life. Memories flashed and he remembered who the god had appeared in front of him those few weeks before. "You—"

The boy in front of him put a finger to his lips, smirking as he stopped Soobin from talking. "Shush, your roommate might wake up. You don't want him to see us, now, do you?"

"Stop insinuating things, you pervert," Soobin hissed, pushing him away. "You're that god — the one that wants to take everything from me."

"Oh, you remember?" the god smirked, biting his bottom lip. "Watching you get so upset brings me joy. It just makes you cuter."

"Stop saying that," Soobin snapped, glaring at him. "You were the one that made Ryuhyeon cheat on me, huh? With that guy. Who was that guy, anyways?"

"Oh, no one, actually," Vici shrugged. "That's one person gone from preventing me from having you. It's not like she matters, anyways. She was a small part of your life. It wasn't going to last forever, anyways — trust me, I'm a god."

Soobin was quiet, sighing softly before leaning against the wall. "Why me? I had everything going for me. Now I lost my girlfriend…"

"You didn't lose her — you let her go," Vici said. "You saw her cheating, and decided to break up with her. I did nothing to make you make that decision. You broke ties with her. How you loved each other for two years…"

"Then why did you break us apart?" Soobin asked, suddenly grabbing his T-shirt hem and turning them so that he pushed the god against the wall. "You ruined my life. My girlfriend left me! It's all your fault!"

"I did nothing to make you guys break up," Vici snapped, glaring back. "All I did was whisper. That's all I did. You guys did things." Soobin was gritting his teeth in anger. The god smirked, tilting Soobin's chin upward ever so slightly. "You are truly the most beautiful human I have ever seen."

Soobin pushed him away with a scoff. "I don't like guys."

"Gods transcend human gender stereotypes, but I can be whatever you want, pretty boy," Vici smirked, tilting his head to the side. "All I want… is you. I'll make you desire me — one way… or another."

"You're ruining my life."

"I don't know how you're remembering that it's me — maybe I'm forgetting to erase your memory of our encounters afterward," Vici said, stepping backwards. "Whatever. I'll be more careful this time. I won't whisper things to you anymore — it'll just corrupt your sweet little soul. Your soul that… is just so beautiful…"

Vici placed his hand gently to Soobin's chest. He felt his heart beat, the gentle thumping increasing as Vici felt his chest. Soobin felt his body go numb — he couldn't quite move. His eyes and neck could move, but his body was frozen in place. Vici chuckled, drawing his hand away.

"Human desire has corrupted your soul already, making it more beautiful," Vici said softly. "Anger, lust, pride… you've felt them all. They linger in your spirit, making you human. What lingers the most, though… is fear. Fear of loneliness, of betrayal… of isolation. And that's exactly what I'll use to make you mine…"

"You're not a god," Soobin muttered. "You're a demon."

Vici laughed slightly, lowering his hands to grab Soobin's wrists. "You're beginning to sound like my brother, dear Soobin. So condescending. Do you hate me that much?" Soobin glared and Vici laughed. "That was a cute little burst of irritance. No matter — you'll forget all of this. I'll be a new person to you —  person that will ruin you in every way. I'll ruin you with every sin you possess — including lust…"

"Don't you dare touch me," Soobin snapped, managing to tug his right wrist away from the god. "Seokhwa told me about you. You're the lost god. Why did you resort to this? To torturing humans instead of protecting them?"

"Because it's not the same anymore, baby," Vici said. "Humans resent a god that they are more powerful than. So I changed. I was bored because the humans are capable of protecting themselves against Animus. They no longer need me. So I'll weaken them until Animus strikes, and see if they call my name again."

"It's not the right way to go," Soobin muttered, his expression more sympathetic. "I'm sure you're still Vici deep inside — but you're afraid of losing your grip on human fears. Like you manipulated my fear of isolation, you manipulated other fears into breaking humans apart — piece by piece. There's no need to do that…"

"There's no other way I'd get humans to know of my existence," Vici snapped. "Regardless, I'll have you, no matter how much manipulating I have to do. You're the one human I'd like to spare, but there's too many obstacles."

"What other obstacles are there? You already took Ryuhyeon from me."

Vici stepped backwards until his body greeted the darkness. He chuckled, his body fading away ever so slowly. "Your friends."
