Time passed since that day and Soobin had yet to see the god again. Yeonjun had disappeared off the face of the planet after their first time, which Soobin was glad for because he needed some time to himself to accept reality. He had sex — with a god. It wasn't soft sex either, it was intense. He was sure he was going to lose consciousness, but he somehow stayed alive through it all.
He didn't tell Seokhwa about it. He didn't want to tell his best friend about his sexual encounters, especially with Vici, even if he wholly trusted him. It would probably make him uncomfortable and make it difficult to believe since Soobin made sure there was no remaining evidence.
Regardless, Soobin was glad to have his friends back, especially Renjun. They were close for a special reason and he couldn't lose him. Soobin was also glad Vici decided to do things the normal way instead of ruining his life. If he thought about it, he was probably off somewhere around the world making someone's life hell due to someone's request.
Still, it felt weird not to have Yeonjun around.
Soobin locked his phone, taking his earphones out and putting them into the charging container. He looked beside him, noticing that Seokhwa was still on his phone. "Hey, it's late."
Seokhwa looked at him, smiling slightly. "I can't sleep. I don't know why."
Soobin lied on his side to face the other, resting his head on his arm. "Well, is something bothering you? You can always talk to me, buddy."
Seokhwa mirrored Soobin's position, sighing as his smile slowly dropped. "It's just… I'm lonely. Sure, I have you, but you're just my best friend. It'd be nice to have someone to love."
"Lonely, huh? I hope Vici isn't whispering things in your ear," Soobin muttered, chuckling to himself. "If you want to get into the dating scene, it's okay. Go ahead. I had a girlfriend for the entire duration of us living together, so I won't mind."
"Well, it'd be nice for someone to love me," Seokhwa changed his words slightly. "You… you have Vici, and you said you're on better terms with him. I'd like for someone to love me as well."
"Oh — that kind of lonely." Soobin seemed to think for a moment before moving back on his bed and making an opening in the blanket. "If you're lacking warmth, we can cuddle tonight."
"Shut up, we haven't cuddled in years," Seokhwa laughed, shaking his head. Soobin flicked the blanket to the side, using his fingers to usher Seokhwa forward. The other rolled his eyes at Soobin's dramatic behavior. "You're a weirdo."
"Your favourite weirdo, I hope, since there's quite a bit of us," Soobin commented, earning a laugh from the other. "Come on, let's just cuddle. You need it."
Seokhwa eventually gave in, walking over to Soobin's bed and lying beside him. Soobin put the blanket over them and they lied facing each other since they were still talking. Seokhwa put his phone under the pillow, resting his head on his arm. "Okay, I'm here now, but I'm still not tired."
"When we start cuddling, you'll get tired," Soobin said. "I'm the big spoon because you're cuter than me. I'm also taller."
"It's fine, I need the hug anyways," Seokhwa responded. "I can't believe you got dragged into the world of gods. I don't know if I should call you lucky or whatever. I can't believe they're real. It's amazing. I wish I could see Vici myself."
"I feel like he'll be here more often soon enough, since he, uh… got attached to me," Soobin said. "Of course, you'll see his human form since the sight of his godlike form would probably kill me."
"You read that?"
"Yep, and he said so himself."
Seokhwa's eyes brightened ever so slightly. "We have a similar interest again. Do you enjoy reading about the Shyre gods?"
"It's fun," Soobin nodded with a smile. Seokhwa seemed happy to have a common with his best friend, especially one relating to his minor study at university. "Anyways, I think it's time to sleep. It's almost 2am and you have a class at 7am."
Seokhwa turned around to face his own bed and he felt Soobin's arms go around his waist, tugging him closer to hug him. Seokhwa was quiet, feeling his cheeks burn slightly. He didn't mean to make Soobin resort to such things, since he didn't want to make his best friend uncomfortable, but saying he couldn't sleep was easier than saying he missed someone holding him.
After all, it'd be a bit more than a little weird.
"Have you ever fallen for a friend?" Seokhwa asked softly.
Soobin seemed to think for a moment before shaking his head. "No, not really. I've had, like, a crush on one or two, but I've never fallen in love. Why? Did you fall for a friend?"
"I'm not sure," Seokhwa muttered. "I don't want to ruin our friendship. Besides, it's useless — they're seeing someone. Wanting them is something useless. I'm… I'm tired of this lovesick feeling — this empty feeling of love not being returned. It hurts."
"It's quite an unfortunate situation," Soobin muttered, "but I'm sure you'll find someone to love, Hwa. If I may ask — who is this friend that you've fallen for?"
"A-ah…" Seokhwa didn't want to tell him, but it would be unfair to Soobin. "Uhm… it doesn't matter. You don't know him, anyways."
"I know all your friends."
"Goodnight, Soobin."
Soobin sighed, hugging his friend tighter for a moment. "Goodnight, Seokhwa. Sleep well."
Seokhwa decorated this person's name with the word 'friend' unfairly. All this person did was use him. But even though he used him, Seokhwa still managed to fall in love. Maybe it was Stockholm syndrome, maybe it was just love. He used Seokhwa's body every time they saw one another. Soobin hated him, to say the least, but Seokhwa saw the good in him.
Jung Daehyun didn't deserve Seokhwa's love, but he still chose him.
And Seokhwa needed the love.
"Soobin-ah…"
