"Lace?" Mason whispered, as Lacey stated at the white wall in front of her, too upset to cry, too emotionless to say or do anything. She just felt that if she sat there and stared at the white wall she would wake up on her sofa or in her bed, and the nightmare would be over. "Lacey?" Mason whispered again, his hand holding hers on the bed, giving it a slight squeeze, as she finally adverted her gaze to Masons face. "It's just a dream right?" Lacey whispered, her voice barely auditable, as Dani opened the door into the room, and Dani didn't need to be told the news, she could feel it as she walked into the room, feeling the emotions that ran high. Dani let the door close silently, standing back in the corridor, feeling her own tears falling down her face, as she rested a hand on her bump, feeling her own baby kick. "This isn't happening" Dani mumbled, as she pulled her phone out, texting their friends and telling them the news.
"I don't know what to do" Mason whispered bedside Dani, unaware that he had even come out of the room and was standing there. "She's just sitting there" Mason whispered, his own tears brimming at his eyes. "Oh come here" Dani whispered, as she pulled the taller male into a hug, letting him let his own emotion out, the truth was no matter how heartbreaking this was for him, he was going to need to be the stronger person in the room behind him. "I don't know what to do" he whispered through his own tears as Dani pulled back from the hug. "I'll tell everyone okay, but what I need you to do is to go in there no matter how hard it is, and be there for her" Dani whispered, as mason wiped his eyes, nodding his head. "Right, I'll go and get some drinks and some snacks, she probably won't want them, but try and encourage it" Dani whispered, as she touched Masons arm, and walked down the hallway, trying to contain her own emotions.

Lacey sat in the bed, continuing to stare at the wall in front of her, the silent tears falling from her eyes. Wanting nothing more than to go back to when she didn't feel one hundred percent and come to the hospital that day, to ignore her gut feeling that everything was okay. Lacey felt broken, Lacey felt useless, Lacey felt like everything was her fault. Mason entered back into the room, carrying the supplies that Dani had been and brought, telling him that's she would just be outside if he needed her, but with Dani being pregnant, she didn't want to cause any further upset with Lacey. "Lace?" Mason whispered, as her eyes found him again, looking at his tear stained face pained her heart even more, and she let the tears free fall down her face, holding her stomach where her baby would have been, wanting nothing more than to feel a kick, or a twinge, anything to tell her that this wasn't real.
"I'm so sorry" Lacey cried, although her cries were silent, the tears streamed down her face. "Hey, hey" Mason whispered, sitting next to her on the bed, pulling her into him. "Don't apologise for something you can't control" Mason whispered, as he played with Laceys hair, trying to comfort the girl. "Lace, listen to me yeah, this isn't your fault" Mason whispered. "Somethings just aren't meant to be, no matter how sad they are, and one day you'll look back at this and everything will seem better, it might not be better, the hurt still there but it'll be different" Mason stated, placing a kiss to the top of her head, a reaction and an action he did whenever he comforted her, well, when he used to comfort her that was. "Like us then" Lacey whispered, rubbing the tears away from her eyes, as Mason looked down at her. "What do you mean?" Mason whispered, as Lacey shook her head. "Somethings just aren't meant to be, like us" Lacey whispered, as Mason shook his head, holding the girl a little tighter, his arms pulling her into him, moving around on the bed so that Lacey could sit in his lap, as he rubbed circles on her back. "Just because things ended the way they did, and all of this is happening, it doesn't mean we're not meant to be" Mason whispered, as Lacey turned around to look at him. "Then what are you saying?" Lacey whispered, her eyes searching for answers in his own brown ones. "That maybe when the time is right, and we're both better, that maybe we try and have a relationship, start dating, start seeing each other" Mason whispered, as his lips touched Lacey's briefly, his eyes scanning hers for a sign that this was okay, but all Lacey did was push her own lips to his, her body melting into his arms.
One by one the friend of both Mason and Lacey arrived at the hospital, waiting around in the hallway, to be moved to a waiting room just down from the room they were in, Lacey lay asleep on Masons chest, finally falling asleep after crying herself to sleep silently. Mason looking up as Declan walked into the room, carrying two cups of coffee, knowing that Lacey was asleep from the update Mason had sent into the group chat. Declan sighed to himself as he saw Masons wallet open on the bed, the scan photo lying there, Masons eyes falling back onto it, as Declan placed his hand over the wallet, closing it and looking at Mason. "I didn't realise how much I wanted this, until i couldn't have it" Mason whispered, trying his hardest not to wake Lacey up. "It's shit, I shut it all out, and I blinked and missed it, i had it robbed from me" Mason mumbled, as Declan nodded his head, standing next to his best friend as Mason lay his head on Decs chest, crying silently into it.
Authors Note; Is it just me who really wants to hug Mason in this?
