"I can't believe you're performing at the gala and then leaving just after" Sasha mumbled, as she curled her hair.
Every year there was a gala held at St George's Park for the England team, and that was the England team across the board, ranging from the under twenty ones to the senior team, as well as staff and families.
"I promised I would do it, and even if I haven't spoke to him, I still want to go, I want to know his okay before I leave" Lacey whispered, as she straightened her own hair, Ellie and Lauren nodding at her through the mirrors in Sasha's room. "What are you going to do if you see him?" Ellie questioned, as Lacey looked at her through the mirror. "Be civil, I'm not even sure if we're together at this moment in time" Lacey mumbled, as she finished her hair standing up and straightening her black dress out, smiling at herself in the mirror."Everything will work itself out, you've just got to be open to the idea of actually talking things through" Ellie whispered, as Lacey nodded her head at her new friend. She knew she needed to speak to Mason, no matter how hard it was to hear the truth, even if it did break her. Maybe she should of heard him out the day she told him to get out, but she was too caught up in the moment of being hurt and angry to even process the words that left her mouth.
"On the plus side, we can all get steaming tonight" Sasha laughed, as the girls rolled their eyes at her, any excuse to get drunk.—
"So, you didn't kiss her then" Jack mumbled, after the several occasions where he had tried to square up to Mason, Mason being trapped in the corner between Declan, Jack and Ben. Mason shook his head, sighing to himself and running a hand through his floppy hair that he didn't have the heart to style, he had tried every excuse he could think of to get out of the gala, but he knew deep down he had to go and face it all.
"We need to go, the gaffer won't be happy if we're late" Ben chimed, as the four males looked at each other, Mason sighing again, before walking out of the room, his hand holding his phone as his fingers danced over Lacey's name, but something inside him told him not to, and he followed that instinct, sliding his phone back into his pocket, and heading into the blacked out Range Rover that was waiting patiently for them.
"Do you think she will still come?" Mason whispered to Declan, who smiled at his best friend nodding his head. "I think she will be there" Ben chimed, listening in on the conversation in front of him. "I just don't know how to do this, I feel sick" Mason whispered, as Ben and Declan put their arms around his shoulders, having a group hug in the car.—
"Lacey! Hey!" Kate sang, as Lacey walked away from the bar, a small glass of wine in her hand, the only one she would be drinking due to flying. "Kate hey! How have you been?" Lacey smiled, as Kate pulled her in for a hug, smiling at her. "I've been good, I'm really sorry to hear about you and Mase though, it's really shocked me" she mumbled, as Lacey shook her head. "We don't need to talk about it, we're here to celebrate" Lacey smiled, before she excused herself and found herself walking over to the DJ to ensure that he had the song she was singing later on. "Ah, Lace this is Phil, you know Tyrone and Tammy already" Reece smiled, as he pulled the younger girl towards the football players, Lacey smiling and saying hello.
But that's when Lacey noticed the thick brummie accent fill the room, the room laughing with him, and Lacey couldn't help but look over, her eyes glancing over the males walking in. "You've got this" Ellie smiled from next to her, showing herself in a time that Lacey didn't know she needed anyone. "Laces" Declan chimed, as he strolled over pulling her in for a rather tight hug, but it was the first time she had seen him since the night she told Mason to get out, she wasn't expecting him to engage with her, she always assumed deep down that her friends would always take his side in an argument if a disagreement, but she couldn't be more wrong.
"He didn't kiss her, she kissed his cheek" Declan mumbled, as he pulled away from the hug, his own eyes scanning her face, as her eyes looked directly at Mason, nodding her head at Declan's words, and although her feet wanted to move over to him, and give him a hug and apologise for her abrupt behaviour that night, she was frozen in place, almost like she knew she shouldn't move. "There's my favourite singer" Ben smiled, as he came over and hugged Lacey, placing a kiss to Ellie's cheek shortly after, Jack, Sasha and Lauren appearing next to her too, leaving Mason to walk slowly over, not knowing if it was the right thing to do.
"Hey" he breathed, as Lacey looked up at him, a small smile playing on her face. "Hey" she breathed back. "We need to talk" he mumbled, as it felt like the rooms eyes landed on the younger pair, almost as if everyone was watching their moves.
"Lacey, we're ready for you now that everyone is here" the DJ smiled, as he walked over quickly, handing her a microphone before heading back to the staged area, Lacey nodding.
"There's always something" Mason chuckled slightly, as Lacey nodded her head. "We will talk before the night is over" she whispered, before she tapped the microphone, getting everyone's attention, smiling at the room.
