Mason sat with Declan in Declan's lounge, just messing around as they usually did. Lauren and Lacey were out shopping, so it was time for some quality time together, it just felt like recently Mason's world had been spinning, not that he was complaining, he was happy, he had Lacey, he was playing regular football for Chelsea and England, not to mention the amount of matches he was scoring in, he really felt as if he had everything he needed.
"You keep zoning out bro" Declan mumbled, as he placed the xbox controller down, pausing whatever number football game they was about to continue playing, like they had all morning. "Do you ever just wish things would slow down for a minute?" Mason questioned, as Declan laughed his head, nodding. "All the time, when Coach yells for us to do more laps, i'm just like please, let me die by the corner flag" Declan laughed, as Mason shook his head. "I don't mean like that" Mason whispered, as Declan nodded his head, turning serious. "I know you didn't mean it like that, I just didn't want it to be a serious serious conversation, I don't do serious, you know that" Declan laughed, as Mason nodded his head. "I should of been a dad" Mason whispered, running his hand over his face, opening his wallet, and taking out the scan photo that he hadn't got the heart to throw away, or place somewhere else. "I look at this photo everyday" Mason whispered, as he ran his thumb over the plastic casing covering it. "Like, I should be painting the nursery, I should be buying a baby Chelsea grow, but here I am, it's almost like I was robbed of something I never got the chance to experience" Mason mumbled, running a hand over his face. "I was wondering when we was going to have this conversation" Declan whispered, turning to face his friend, Mason looking over at his questioningly. "I mean, I didn't want to bring it up, I always assumed you would come to me when you was ready" Declan whispered, as Mason nodded his head. "I just, Lacey is dealing with it, and don't get me wrong, she has her moments where she sits in her spare room, and we hug, or she cries and I tell her everything will be fine, but will it?" Mason mumbled, as he blinked quickly to hide any tears he wanted to let fall, he wouldn't breakdown, he couldn't breakdown.
"You know, it's okay to cry right" Declan mumbled, as he pulled his best friend in for a hug, and let Mason cry into his shoulder. "Why did it have to be us?" Mason mumbled, as Declan shook his head. "I honestly can't answer that question mate, I honestly wish it wasn't you, I wish we all had the chance to change nappies, and babysit so you could have a date night, but some thing's just aren't meant to be, and its harsh, it's shit actually, utterly shit, but they'll be another time, another place" Declan mumbled, as he just held Mason, patting him on the back, or rubbing his back, just letting his best friend cry to his hearts content, knowing he needed it, but Declan couldn't help but let his own tears fall, knowing he couldn't do anything to change how he was feeling. "And with Lace going on tour, I just cant help but think, if she got pregnant again she wouldn't go, like we could just stay in our own little bubble, have a family" Mason whispered, as Declan sighed, shaking his head. "If this really about Lacey going away?" Declan whispered, as Mason shrugged his shoulders. "I just feel like we find each other, and we have our happy moments, but then it's like something comes along, like it'll always be a tour, or a game away, or football training, or studio time, like when do we actually get the chance to just be us, just have us time" Mason whispered, as Declan nodded his head, but he didn't know what to say back to his friend, he was thankful that him and Lauren never really had to experience time away from each other for a length of time, but he never really thought about how that would effect a relationship. "I really want her to go on tour, don't get me wrong, I really want her to be happy, but part of me just wants to be selfish, and have her for myself" Mason mumbled. "Does that make me a bad person?" He muttered, as he pulled out of Declan's chest, and looked at his best friend, his tear stained, red eyes looking at his friend. "I don't think it makes you a bad person at all, I think it makes you a person who cares about your relationship, but I think the person you need to have this conversation with is Lacey" Declan mumbled, as Mason nodded his head, he knew his best friend was right and that these were concerns he needed to have with Lacey, but part of him didn't want to have that conversation, part of him just wanted to stay in his little his little bubble, where everything was perfect, where everything was okay.
He didn't want to be the person who turned his relationship sour, where he become controlling, but he just wanted to protect Lacey from anything and everything he could, and he couldn't do that whilst she was half way across the world, or half way across the country.
"Look, lets get some food, and when the girls get back i'll make an excuse to go out with Loz, you and Lace can head wherever and have a conversation" Declan smiled, as Mason nodded his head, knowing that he would need to have the conversation, he just hoped it was something he could put off for a couple of more days, just to enjoy the better times, rather than think about the potential bad ones.
