Day 5 - I Got Red in My Ledger (Nami x Male! Reader) [Part 2]

"Dead..?" Luffy looked back at you who seemed to be alive. "That makes no sense, Nami, he's right here.

"He doesn't look dead to me," Zoro added, his hand on the handle of his swords.

"But... I saw you..." Nami staggered towards you, disbelief in her eyes, her mind telling you were an illusion. She reached out to touch the side of your face, thinking her hands would phase through. "You were..."

The tips of her fingers grazed the surface of your cheek, it was real. Tears came to her eyes as her heart overflowed with emotions and feelings she had tucked away for so long. You were really here, in front of her, alive and well. Her tears fell as she hugged as if you'd disappear if she let go.

"I thought you were gone..." Nami cried, burying her face in your chest. "I..."

"Shhhhh, it's okay, I'm alive," you reassured, her, petting hair with one arm while the other was wrapped around her shoulders. "I missed you, Nami..."

"I missed you too..." Nami pulled back to wipe her eyes. "But how did you survive?"

"I'll explain everything later, but right now..." You paused, glancing at the pirate crew behind her and then behind you, seeing the opening of an alleyway, before turning your attention back to her. "We have to escape."

"Escape? Is someone coming after-"

You didn't let Nami finish as you pulled her closer and threw a smoke bomb on the ground.

Everyone began coughing from the make-shift particles that were now in the air, they waved their hand to drive it away. When it cleared, the Strawhats scanned the area to see what was going on.

"What happened?" Franky broke the ice.

"Not sure but what kind of idiot throws a smoke bomb for no reason?" Usopp asked still waving the remaining smoke.

"Hey... where did that guy go?" Zoro inquired, not seeing you around.

"HUH- WHERE'S NAMI?!"

"What was that?! You can't just throw a smoke bomb like that!" Nami scolded you while coughing the smoke that got in her lungs.

"Sorry but they would've seen us get away if I didn't," you told her after you glanced around the corner to see if anyone had followed you the dead end.

"Who?"

"The pirates, of course," you answered like it was the most obvious thing in the world.

"What pir- what did you get yourself into?" Nami asked, not getting it.

"Me? I was saving you," you explained, turning back to her. "You got yourself in quite the sticky situation, Nami. It's a good thing I did come, that seemed like an unpredictable bunch so it must've been harder to come up with an escape plan than usual."

"I...- what? No-! I was perfectly fine!" Nami stated, now frustrated with you.

"Oh... did I mess up your escape plan?" You asked, feeling bad now. "I- Oh! The treasure! You didn't get the treasure! Don't worry, Nami."

"No, that's not-"

"I've been gathering enough treasure over the years we've been separated from each other that you can buy back your village and anything else you want."

"Tha-... you have?" Nami's frustration faded, and her heart began to flutter.

"Yeah, I have..." you confessed, light red tinting your cheeks. "I couldn't help it... I wanted to help you in every way I could once I learned you returned my feels..."

"Your feels...?"

"That day, when you thought I died..."

"Do you trust me?" You asked her with a stoic face, but in your eyes, it told her enough that everything was going to be alright.

"Yes..."

"Good." You brought the revolver to the side of your head and pulled the trigger. You drop on your side to the floor, a large hole in the side of your head. Nami felt her heart drop and she was too stunned to even process what just happened.

"Well, would you look at that," the pirate captain commented, unlocking the cell door. "He killed himself to save you, how pathetic."

"No..." Nami knelt down to your limp form cupping your head in her shaky hands. Tears dripped down from her eyes, landing on your cheek. "No... you can't be dead... you just can't be... because if you were dead then... then... then I'd never get to tell you... I'd never get to tell you... that I... that I love you...- so you can't be dead! Please! I- I love you..."

"You don't know how hard it was for me to not open my eyes and embrace you with every fibre of love that I have you," you confessed, looking into her eyes with a heartwarming gaze. "So you see? I gathered all the treasure I could find so we can set you free and we can live a happy life together, we won't have to worry about pirates anymore!"

"[Y/n]... I-"

"NAMIIIIIII!" Luffy called nearby.

"Oh no! They're looking for you!" You quickly grabbed Nami's wrist. "Come on! We have to get off this island!" You moved to dash out of the scene but you felt Nami tug back, staying still. "Nami? What's wrong? Why aren't you moving? We have to get out here-"

"No."

"What?"

"You heard me."

"Nami... what- they're pirates-!"

"They're not just pirates. They're my Nakama." Nami stated firmly, standing her ground.

"What...?" Your arms went limp to your sides, you couldn't believe it. 'She just called pirates Nakama. Pirates... cruel... greedy... murderers... she called them Nakama.' Your heart ached from the spear of betrayal that pierced through it, your irises shrank. "How could you? How could you call pirates Nakama? Do you not remember what you told me about Arlong?! If this is some act you're putting on to fool them then drop it! You don't have to fake being allied with these savages because I got enough treasure to get you and your entire village free! That's your real family! Remember? Your real Nakama!"

"[Y/n]!" Nami demanded, clenching her fist. "The Strawhats already freed me and my family from Arlong!"

"Oh? So now you're enslaved to them now?"

"No! I joined their crew out of my own free will!"

"How can you say that?! Are you even listening to yourself, Nami?!"

"They're not like other pirates, [Y/n]! They saved me! They saved my village! They've saved kingdoms and countless citizens! They care for others, and they care for me."

"That's-"

"NAMI! Oh! Nami! Good, there you are, shishishi," Luffy giggled after seeing Nami when he came around the corner. "We've been looking everywhere for you! We thought something bad happened but I see you just wanted to talk to your friend."

"Tell me something, kid," you addressed Luffy, shadows covering your eyes. "What is Nami to you?"

"Huh? Oh! She's my friend of course!" Luffy answered genuinely. "And the navigator for the crew."

"Hmph!" You turned away, not accepting this was the truth.

"[Y/n]... Why don't you travel with us for a while?" Nami offered you, touching your shoulder. "I can show you the strawhats are more than just pirates."

You turned to her, your emotions were masked by the blank expression you wore. She couldn't tell what was going in that head of yours whenever you made that face. Usually, it meant you were deep in thought. So she took a deep breath and asked;

"Do you trust me?"
