Day 11 - Just Keep Swimming (Sanji x Reader)

The enemy kicked you in the stomach, causing you to lose balance and fall back. It wouldn't have been a big deal if you weren't on the edge of the ship, but you were and now you had a one-way trip to the sea. What made matters worse was the fact you were a devil fruit user.

It happened so fast that it was a miracle Sanji got a glimpse of your situation before you were completely overboard. His eyes widened and the cigarette dropped from his mouth as he called your name in panic.

"[Y/N]!" Sanji reached out and motioned to go after you but the guys he was dealing with restrained him, making him listen in horror as water splashed. For a few moments, he was stuck in a devasted daze, trying to go after you. When he got smacked with the next attack, he snapped out of it.

Sanji turned around, a dark looked in his eye that caused the enemy to feel unsettled. He lashed out at them, aggravated that they tried to keep him from saving you. While the men were big and beefy, Sanji fueled by his anger and need to save you, kicked their asses in no time. Once they were down, he took a few deep breaths then ran over to where you fell. He checked over the edge if you were still near the surface struggling to stay on the surface but to his dismay, you were nowhere near above sea level.

Without hesitation, Sanji dove into the water. The blond stayed put for a second, glancing around to find your body, but he couldn't find you. He became distressed, time was running out and he didn't know how long you were down here. How long... that was it. Sanji looked down and saw your figure far below where he was, he wasted no more and began to swim to you. The further he swam, the darker it became but he paid no mind to it. Sanji's sole focus was on getting to you. You were almost in his reach, Sanji stuck out his arm, so close.

You peaked open your eyes, sensing someone drawing near. Your vision was blurry but you could see someone swimming toward you, as they got closer your sight became more clear and you saw it was Sanji. You couldn't tell if you were crying with all the water around but became worried. He came all this way for you, yet you were already sunk down to a darker part of the ocean, and the sun from the surface was barely visible.

Finally, Sanji got to you. He wrapped his arm around you and started to swim for the surface, but you knew the two of wouldn't make it to the surface. It was a long way up and your lungs didn't have enough air left. Even Sanji could make it on his own, you knew he wouldn't leave you behind. You didn't wish for your last moments to be struggling for dear life as the both of you drown.

You cupped Sanji's cheek, catching his attention. He stared at you, confused until your lips pressed against his, he didn't need words to understand. He kissed back, sharing the oxygen he had left with you. The kiss was sad but showed your love for each other.

The both of you smiled, holding each other close as the sea filled your lungs.
