"No! Please don't die!" Luffy cried in the dead of night. You almost didn't hear it over the howling wind.

"Luffy?" You knocked on his door, concerned for your captain. The only response you received were whimpers, you knew something was wrong.

Opening the door, you peeked inside, searching for your captain. At first, you couldn't find him so you thought it was only in your head, but you managed to spot his straw hat poking out of the covers. Luffy seemed to be hiding.

You slipped inside the room, carefully closing the door behind you to not alert the others. You crept over to Luffy's bedside and knelt down by the straw hat. Lifting the sheets you revealed your captain there, weeping and hugging his pillow close to his chest. He hugged it so desperately that you could make the connection that his body thought this was the form of the person dying in his dream. You couldn't bear to see Luffy in this state.

"Luffy, psst," you gently shook your captain awake.

"Huh?" He blinked his tears away as he awoke, and when his vision cleared he saw you with concern written on your face. "Oh-" He turned his back toward you and you heard him sniff loudly as his arm moved in front of his face. You were about to ask if he was alright but he sat up and turned to you with a neutral expression. "[Y/n], what brings you here so late at night?"

"I... I heard you crying..." you answered.

"I- I wasn't crying," Luffy lied, averting his eyes away from you.

"Luffy-"

"I said I wasn't crying!" Luffy snapped at you, startling you which caused you to fall on your butt. Your eyes flashed with fear, for a moment Luffy saw a repeat of what happened at Marineford. "[Y/n]!" He immediately went to your aid, holding you in his arms. "[Y/n], I'm so sorry! I didn't mean to, I swear! I-"

You made him stop rambling by putting your lips on his, pressing long enough until he calmed down. Pulling back, you cupped his cheeks in your hands, looking into his eyes with a comforting gaze.

"Luffy, it's okay to cry. Everyone needs to cry, even I cry. Don't hold in your pain, Luffy, please. I'm here if you ever need to cry..."

Luffy stared at you, he stared and stared. Slowly a tear formed in his eye and fell down his cheek, then two, then three. Soon he officially broke down his tough wall and wept into your shoulder, crying about how he had dreamt about his brother's death again, and how it happened almost every night, how he never told anyone because he needed to be strong for his crew, how he felt alone at night after he had the dream.

Luffy wasn't going to have to worry about being alone anymore. You were going to be there for him, every night. You'll be his comfort when his heart hurts.
