IVORY'S POV
"Well, wasn't expecting that to happen." I stated.
"Since Mason is gone and we're in private, can I ask you a question?" Carter nervously asked.
Well that didn't sound good. "Umm, sure." I replied nervously.
"Can we practice our magic?" All I did was stare at him dumb founded. Pretty sure my draw dropped to the floor and my eyes looked like a deer caught in headlights. "Don't give me that look it'll be fun!" He cleared a spot on the floor and sat down, patting the spot in front of him for me.
"Are you insane?! No way. Nuhuh. Not in a million years. Not happening. Someone is going to get hurt again. Someone always does!!" I covered my hands with my arms as I slightly turned away.
"Nobody is around to get hurt this time Ivory, now sit down."
"No! You're here what if I hurt you, or you hurt me?? Or even worse?" I harshly whispered.
"Thanks to you, now we know that we can heal ourselves. Come on, please?" Carter started to beg.
"I don't know how I did that. What if it doesn't work this time. What if -"
"What if you stop worrying and stalling and just sit down already" Carter cut me off with an annoyed look.
I hesitantly sat down in front of him. "Soooooo, what do we do now?
"I don't know, honestly I wasn't planning on you to actually sit down. Give me a second to think." Carter chuckled.
"Wow." I snorted.
"Oh shush." Carter's brows furrowed in concentration. "Here, give me your hands."
When our hands touched, I kind of expected the weird light thingy to happen again. But thankfully it didn't, that freaked the ever-living shit out of me last time. Carter kept his eyes closed while he gripped my hands.
After a couple of minutes, I started to feel a tingling sensation wherever our hands were touching. Carter opened his eyes and I was completely and utterly shocked. Where there used to be dark blue were now blood red. There isn't even any white anymore. Stupidly I'll admit that I thought he had gone full fledge vampire on me.
"Carter?" I asked. "Are you ok? You're freaking me out a little bit."
"Shhhh, I'm thinking."
When I felt something move in between my hands, I was finally able to tear my eyes away from his new-found eyes. This snake like thing, the color of the base of a fire, slithered out of in between our hands. It circled or hands a few times before it came straight towards me. I started to freak out and tried to pull my hands away but Carter gripped them tighter. I knew right then that he was not going to budge and I was stuck with him. The more I freaked out the stronger the tingling in my hands grew.
I looked up and saw Carter looking straight at me. His eyes still blood red. And right behind him stood Mason. Fear was all over his face. I couldn't let him see this. I focused back on the snake coming towards me. I closed my eyes and forced magic out of my body towards the snake. All off the sudden I no longer felt Carter's hands on mine but my ears were greeted with a bug grunt and an oof.
I slowly peeked my left eye open. My eyes were greeted with Carter laying on top of Mason.
"What the hell was that?" Mason asked as he pushed Carter off him.
"Little bit of magic." Carter rolled off Mason and gave him an apologetic look.
"That looked a little bit more than a little bit of magic. You had a ribbon line thing with a head wrapped around you and Ivory before she blasted you." Mason stated.
"The blasting part wasn't supposed to happen." Carter retorted as he rubbed some sore muscles.
I couldn't stand it anymore. I got up, ran past them, up the stairs, and into my room. The whole way I heard Mason and Carter calling my name. When I closed and locked the door, I broke. I couldn't keep the tears from coming. I had hurt somebody again. And not just anybody, Carter, my twin brother. As well as the man I love.
I heard footsteps running towards me with the boys calling my name.
"Ivory, baby, please open the door." Mason pleaded.
"No," I whispered "Somebody is always hurt around me."
"No, they're not baby."
"Name one time that I haven't." I glared at the door. I wondered if they could feel it. Pure silence greeted my question. "See I told you!" I yelled.
"Please open the door sis." Carter finally cut in.
I walked up to the door and put my hands on the handles of the double doors. Right as I touched it ice covered the entire door knob and half of each door. I jumped back and covered my mouth before a scream escaped my lips.
"Ivory? You there?" Mason asked hesitantly.
"Ya." I needed to get out of here and away from the people I love so no one else will get hurt. I looked around for an escape route when my eyes landed on the window.
"Let's talk about this sweetheart" Mason tried to continue. But before I heard any more, I jumped out of the window hoping I wouldn't hurt myself when I met the ground.
When I hit the ground, I was somehow able to pull some kind of gymnastics roll and prevent me from breaking any bones. I'll definitely be sore and have bruises though tomorrow. I ran down the street towards a hotel I knew all too well.
When I walked through the doors I automatically saw a familiar face. "Hey Eric."
"Hey Ivory, long time no see." Eric is the hotel manager and I've become really good friends with him because any of the times my parents get drunk, beat me, or both, I came here. And god knows that was really often. It's like my little sanctuary.
"Ya, sorry about that, I should've stopped by to say hi."
"No worries. The usual?"
"Yes please." How pathetic is that? I have a usual at a hotel. Who does that?
"I'm glad you haven't been here because of your parents, but it's been dull around here without you to liven things up." Eric chuckled as he smiled.
"I currently now live somewhere else that doesn't include my parents so I've been a little bit safer."
"Only a little bit?" Eric raised one eyebrow questioningly.
"It's me, how safe can I get?" I replied as I sighed.
"This is true. Here's your key, the ice cream and movies will be up shortly."
"Thank you, Eric," I said as he handed me the key "and if a couple boys come in here asking for me, just tell them I'm fine and safe. I just need some time. One's name will be Mason and one will be Carter."
"I'll keep an eye out. Now go get some sleep. You looked exhausted."
"This is why you don't have a girlfriend Eric. You just said I was ugly." I said as I walked away.
"Shit." I heard Eric whisper.
Now I'm due for a very important night of chick flicks, ice cream, and crying.
